Anatomy for Artists: A visual guide to the human form

Great book for sculptors.
My teacher recommended it for me and it's been a great help. Especially since I dont have a live model often.

Great artists guide
If you are an artist that is interested in drawing the human body this is a great reference book for you with beautiful reference pages and very detailed. A must have anatomy guide for every artist studio, and I have purchased many anatomy books in the past, this is my favorite.

A far better human anatomy book than I thought it would be
You can consider this book as a huge visual reference. However, even though it doesn't go into the depth of the human anatomy, as other artist anatomy books do, what it does cover, is excellent.Don't get me wrong, it covers all the important basics of human anatomy & then some.Even if you own 10 artist human anatomy books, you'll want this one also.

Anatomy for an Artist...
This review comes with a caveat...If you want to learn anatomy as an artist this should be in your bookshelf. If you are looking for atelier anatomy stick with Bridgman, Dr. Paul Richer and Stephen Rogers Peck. What's the difference you might ask? Detail and clear, concise line work. The former is clean and concise. The latter atelier referenced books is messy, but lovely detail. Do you need the messy detail? That is for you to decide on your journey. All of the above referenced books should go hand in hand with life drawing classes or workshops. For me, I love the get to the point lines and detail. Last point, this book is larger than most anatomy for artists books. Love it more because of that, as my studio is not set-up for digital copies with images blown up on monitors.

Great book for artists
I'm constantly working to improve my knowledge of anatomy for comic/graphic novel drawing. This is a great book. It's really quite large, which is a plus. The pictures are all clear and high-quality. I especially like the way this book overlays illustrations over the body in many shots. This helps to understand how to draw and "see through" the shapes of the human figure.I saw one reviewer upset that there was nudity in this book. I advise you all to disregard that review. This is an anatomy book for artists. You simply cannot learn how to draw the human body without seeing the human body. The reviewer in question complained about showing male genitalia, remarking that the male model should be covered up. I'd point out, however, that the reviewer did not say anything about the depictions of the female genitalia. That alone seems dubious. The book uses the same two models and the photos are respectful and professional. Be aware that you do see fully nude images. However, serious artists need a serious book, and this is a good one.My only concerns (and this is a concern mentioned by others) are that the binding, although perfectly fine, feels like it might need delicate care if it is to last a long time. The pages also feel a bit lightweight. That is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars. That said, I hope this lasts with care.

Excellent Book for Artists
This is an excellent book for artists for understanding how basic human anatomy undergirds and strengthens figure drawing and painting. I've read other reviews about this book where people freak out because it contains pictures of naked people. Yes, it does. That is the only way to show basic anatomical positions of the human body. Duh. The two models are professional and the images are essentially clinical studies of bodies that illustrate the mechanics of movement and position. Totally not sexy. If you are an artist and want to understand how the hand is connected to the shoulder, and all the joints and bones along that way, then this book is for you.

Finally, I found the right book for my drawing and painting.
I have bought so many anatomy books that didn't help improve my drawing and now I found exactly what I needed. I was hesitant because of the price but this book is well worth it. I would recommend it to any artist.

Wonderful book
This is a visual guide to human anatomy. The book was a lot larger than I thought - it's not really a book you can place next to your sketchbook while you practice, but it's very useful.

Perfektes Referenzbuch für Künstler - Hervorragende Druckqualität und sorgfältig ausgewählte Bilder!
Ich bin absolut begeistert von "Anatomy for Artists: A Visual Guide to the Human Form".
