Great book! Quite imaginative. Recommend it
It’s been quite a few yrs since I read this book, so long I didn’t remember much. It was like reading it for the first time. Aden Stone, our hero, what an interesting and likable character. Loved the imaginative things that were put in this teen/young adult paranormal/fantasy, romance, adventure book. Supporting characters were great. Still not sure about Shannon, in regards to his character...many mysteries solved and started. Kind of an abrupt ending that left me wanting more. I’m a 53yr old happily married 35+yrs woman who thoroughly enjoyed this book...so it’s not just for teens/ya. Reminded me a little bit of some of Jacqueline Frank’s books in which there was souls that took over bodies at first...but this definitely had a twist and went as it seems. Have read Gena Showalter’s books for over 10yrs. This series rates right up with Alien Huntress, Lords of the underworld and her other series. Highly recommend and look forward to book 2 in this series...

Intertwined and story with well.... everything and then some.
Somewhat confusing, with the many different story arc's but still a good read once you wade through the layers of the main and subplots of the book. Sadly, all the layers seem to only take away the ease of reading and relating to the main characters - let alone the four souls trapped in Adens head. It just makes it all little hard to follow with so much going on and so many mythical creatures popping up in what felt like every turn of the page. The biggest let down for me by far, was that the story was sold to me on the fact that the it was about a person with 4 souls trapped inside of him and that each one had a different ability. Seeing the future, Possessing another, Waking the Dead and Time Travel - which was amazing to read when it finally happened throughout the book. I just wished there were more interaction with the trapped souls. In my eyes with thewhole mix of the many different things going on in this world that Gena Showalter has written, the main plot as I saw it (the four souls) had somewhat fallen to the wayside. In the end things were tied up with the souls a little bit to quickly for what I was expecting and left me with questions that I will only hope to see the answers for in the books to follow. As a whole it was far from bad, just a little jumbled and confusing. Those few flaws wouldn't and won't prevent me from purchasing the next in the series as I look forward to learning more in the future and to find out just where the author will take us and her characters next.

What a Great Find! Older Series written by Gena!
I love Gena’s books and found this older series she had written. This series is about a young man who has four souls living inside his head. Each of those entities has a gift (or curse), time travel, necromancy, possess another being and tell the future. He has been institutionalized for schizophrenia. Will he find a way to get them out of his head?I absolutely can’t believe I never found this series before! It is fantastic!

Intertwined by Gena Showalter
I have seen a lot of reviews of this book and they are very mixed so I was hesitant about picking it up, but I wanted to decide for myself so I finally downloaded it to my Kindle last week. When I first picked up the book I felt very confused at the beginning because Aden has four other souls that live in him and when they talk I sometimes get them mixed up. I have heard other reviewers say that if you don't read fantasy or paranormal normally it might be confusing, but I do read those and I was still a little confused. After the first couple of chapters I started to see things a little clearer, but by the end of the book I was still getting the male voices mixed up. There are three male and one female soul living in him and it was the men that I found hard to differentiate between because it is hard to pick up on their different personalities with only voices to go off of.Throughout the book the point of view changes between Aden and Mary-Anne, so I felt as though I got a full story because Aden and Mary-Anne help put together different pieces of information that add to the story. I also felt like as the story progressed even though the point of view changed the story almost melded together and who was telling it didn't matter. Changing point of views made sense and almost helped the story flow better. I am guessing the title of the book is supposed to be a reflection of that.Aden is a very likable character, he has had a hard life and you are really rooting for him in this book because he just cannot seem to catch a break. Mary-Ann is also a great character, she is sweet and thoughtful, but needs a little fun in her life and Riley is just the guy to give her that. I liked seeing the relationships grow between Aden and Victoria and Riley and Mary-Ann, it is interesting how all four of them really balance each other out. I know that sounds a little weird, but that is how I felt about them, I look at each of them as 1/4 of a circle, when they are all together they are whole. Okay, I am not doing a good job explaining this, but I think if you read it you will understand what I mean. The only other downside for me in this book was the ending, I felt like everything was really rushed or just happened really fast. The climax built up and when you finally get there the ending happens so quickly I got to the last page and went "Wait, what?" I felt like I was left with questions, the biggest one being I am still not sure why Aden and Mary-Ann are drawn together, and what caused everything to stop, literally, when they first see each other. I am afraid I might have missed something, or maybe those are questions that the next book will answer. Either way, Gena Showalter has done her job because I am now counting down to the release of the next book because I have to know the answers to those questions. I know that the voices in Aden's head are a bit confusing, but that is not enough to put me off of this book. I also know that I sometimes read too quickly and you cannot do that with this book or you will miss something, you need to read this one slowly. I am very intrigued to see where these four characters are headed next and thought that as a whole the book was good. The next installment is called Unraveled and comes out this August

Twilight move over, Aden and Victoria are coming...
I recently reviewed Unravelled (MIRA) and realised that i didnt write a review for this so i will give you a brief synopsis.Aden is 16, he has been in and out of mental institutions and care homes his whole life and passed from foster home to foster home because everyone thinks he is crazy, and why ?Aden has 4 souls living inside his head, they have been there since birth, he cant shut them up, he cant control them and this causes quite the problem as each soul has a different ability that they use whenever they see fit.One predicts the future, another can time travel, another can raise the dead and the last one can posess other bodies. For all Twilight fans, this book is not for you, the vampires dont sparkle, but the fairies do, the werewolves arent buffed up Cherokees, and its not constantly about a love triangle.I may ruffle some feathers here, but i dare say its BETTER than Twilight, no question, the storyline's are better, there is no face grimacing at every turn, the vampires have long fangs and definitely dont eat deer, yuk, and there are also witches, zombies, goblins, and ghosts, and its not all namby pamby adolescent angst. This book is 100% pure paranormal, its sexy without having any sex scenes in it whatsoever, there is lots of kissing though and whilst its not listed as young adult fiction, its pretty much perfect for both tweens and teenagers and older ladies like myself (38).It was fast paced, very detailed and descriptive, the prowse was excellent, and the narrative flowed extremely well, i never once got to a point in the book where i though ok enough for now, i wanted to keep reading as there was always something going on and i loved it, i have already cast this movie in my head, and i think it would be a great film, or a tv show based on these books would also be very cool.I cannot fault Gena as a writer, her imagination is extrodinary which is why she is one of my favourite writers. If you have not discovered her writing yet then please buy this book, also make sure you buy Unravelled after, ive included the product link at the top of the page.Grab a blanket, curl up on the sofa, and disappear into a world you will not want to come back out of... Starts slowly
I started reading Gena Showalter's Lord's of the Underworld series, and expected this to feel/read the same way, it doesn't, almost feels like a different author. It starts very slowly and takes some getting into, the characters are well defined and you get very involved in the story line. My problem with this book is it never really got going, and doesn't seem to have an ending, it feels like a long introduction/stage setting for the next books in the series.Having said that I am looking forward to the next book as I want to see what happens, so it has grabbed my attention, but in a different way from her other books.would I recommend it? as a one off read maybe not, as part of a series - yes.

A good, well-written story.
Gena brings up interesting new concepts while making good use of the classics. Her caracters welcome us into their world with humour and mysteries, leaving us wanting to know more with every page. Recommended for admirers of the supernatural.
