Great pencil. Fully retractable sleeve makes it easy to ...
Great pencil. Fully retractable sleeve makes it easy to pocket and safe to carry. Weight and balance is perfect in my opinion. Well constructed. Great looking, again in my opinion. And automatic lead feed works as expected. I loaded up some Pilot 4B Neox lead and it writes buttery smooth. It is hard to describe. Maybe 'greasy' is a better word. However, you really have to try it to realize the difference from the normal HB generic pencil. And finally, it just feels good in my hand. (Not 'the hand,' but my hand. I have no idea what 'the hand' is. People keep referring to how something feels in 'the hand' when reviewing products these days. When they do, I immediately see a mental picture of 'Thing' of the Adams Family. But I do digress.) The metal is smooth but not slippery and the knurling is just right (again in my opinion). And finally, the lead has no play at the tip and I have had no lead breakage problems so far. Overall, I think the pen is great. Great price when ordering it from Japan. Takes a few weeks to ship, but it was well worth the wait.

This is my new favorite mechanical pencil
This is my new favorite mechanical pencil. It is heavy, solid, comfortable to write with, and works well. I consider it to be a very nice "conventional" 0.5mm mechanical pencil. The automatic lead advance will advance the lead for me if I am writing a long note in a hurry or I just forget to press the lead advance, but that's just an extra. One doesn't have to use the automatic lead advance, and this is still a fine pencil even without that.Pros: Solid weight, good construction, and a comfortable grip. You can't see it in the pictures but rather than being sharp-pointed checkering, the texture on the grip is flat-topped grooves and rectangles. That gives a good grip without being sharp enough to feel rough. Also, the point retracts completely for safe and comfortable pocket carry.Cons: Expensive. Has the tiny eraser which is too typical of mechanical pencils; OK for emergency use and it makes a decent stopper for the lead storage chamber, but if you want to do any serious amount of erasing you'll want a separate eraser. I recommend the Pentel Clic Eraser or similar, a stick type vinyl eraser in a plastic tube holder/shell.

A Great Pencil Overall, but not really "Automatic."
Very nice all-metal pencil. I would give it 5 stars except I find the "automatic" mechanism is not very good--it does appear to advanceautomatically, but only sticks out a sliver. If you want more than a tiny tip, you still have to keep pressing the button. However, the overall build quality is excellent, and I very much like the way the point retracts to save your pocket. It's a great pencil--just forget about it being "automatic."

Solid build quality, Soft writing experience
I bought this mechanical pencil out of obsession, they worth a dozen more ordinary pencils but I am glad to have it after weeks of use.The built quality is comparable to Uni Kuru Gora, and in some extent even Rotring. It has a ball-point-pen like retraction system which works quite well. (although it does pushes the lead at the same time, but not long enough to make the lead go outside the cover)The writing experience is also a very soft one comparing to Rotring and perhaps resembles the most as a Platinum. The tip does move quite a bit, for precision drawing it is probably not a good sign but for me it is just as good as a Rotring.

Started great, ended bad
Quit working properly. When I press down to write, the point collapses back up into the barrel.

Writes well, feels great.. but didn't last long
I loved the all metal look & feel of this pencil. It worked well for about 3 years, but got jammed. I tried everything, watched Youtube videos on how to remove the jam.. no success. I had not imagined this from a relatively expensive, all metal pencil. Oh well...
