Bought as a spare
I have a very important Linux machine with lots of data running a RAID 6 with this exact adapter, and given that these models have been discontinued, bought this one as a cold spare in case the original one dies. I will point out that the original has been in service since late 2011 and is still going strong, so these controllers are very reliable. Recently I changed out my old spinning drives in the RAID6 one at a time for WD Red SA500 SSD's and the result is an all flash RAID 6 that is blindingly fast.
