I've just installed a new side gate—solid wood, not the picket style. I didn't want a latch or handle on the public side, so this Sayayo bolt works perfectly. If you do a bit of DIY, this should be easy to install. It looks well made (it's a simple metal design, after all) and should last for some years. The locking option to use a padlock was a good addition.

Great item, received in great condition, strong and feels heavy. Was easy to fit to our wooden gates, making them feel extra secure. We have them on gates but versatile enough to use on sheds or other doors.

Overall i’m happy enough with this product. It’s a good option because there aren’t many bolts for a garden gate with a throw this long, I couldn’t find one anywhere else. It’s attractive to look at, feels solid and has a smooth action.Unfortunately a fair bit of the black coating/paint got chipped off while I was installing it. This was scraped off both by my bit holder screwdriver, and by the screws themselves because the bottom screw holes do not have enough clearance to avoid the screw scraping the bolt when it goes in. The coating seems delicate in general so I feel like this might carry on flaking off over time. I only just got it so i’ll try and update this review if that happens. I guess this is the cost of the attractive matte black finish.I found this quite difficult to install in general. My strong recommendation would be using a manual screwdriver with a long enough shaft, not a bit holder, as there is not enough clearance and its very easy to scrape off the paint. I suggest putting all the screws fully into the body before holding it against your gate and screwing all 4 screws a bit at a time. You want to keep the screw heads underneath the bolt at all times, especially the 2 lower screws because there is no clearance, so they will scrape the bolt going in the normal way.Also, use your own screws. The included screws are terrible, have easily stripped heads which aren’t cut properly and best described as ‘screw shaped objects’ rather than screws.Another reviewer got confused by the two additional pieces which come with it. The square sided piece is the receiver for the bolt on the door frame etc. I didn’t use this because my fence post already has a suitable hole. The rounded piece is to be attached below the bolt to hold it in place and for the padlock to go through. I’d recommend using it even if not padlocking as the bolt moves quite smoothly so could work itself loose otherwise.

We were looking for a quality latch that was durable and strong that was also long latch due there being a slight gap between the end of our gate and the post.We looked in various DIY shops, such as B&Q and Homebase and the latches were flimsy and could easily be moved once the latch was in a closed position. We were really impressed with the strength of this latch and the ability to add a padlock lower down the gate which once again reinforces the gate.I think this is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon.

Easy installed and good quality.

On the plus side, it is well engineered and the fixings are substantial. It should last me out. On the downside, the main 100mm section could do with being a bit wider as the bolt hinders the screws going in straight.I have used countless A2 stainless bolts, nuts, washers, rods, fixtures and resin anchors over the years. This definitely isn't 304/A2. It has only been out a week and it has some surface rust spots. There is an A2 nut, bolt and washer in the same area that has been there for 10 years without any corrosion. Maybe the SUS304 means suspicious?It is nicely made but isn't what it claims to be, hence the ratings.
