It is a curve so your weight on it one helps you balance bc you decide how far go down on either side to give you a small or large stretch

I put mine under my desk to see if it would work for that and I don't think it would stretch your calves much. I have two things I use to stretch my calf. Yes it is possible to balance on both planes.

Q: what are the dimensions of the rockerboard

The dimensions 15 inches wide, 14 inches in height and the rocker are approx. 2.5 inches tall. I really love mine because not only do I get a good calf stretch, it also works my ankles. I hope this helps
