Great for critical thinking
These are what I was looking for. I use them in conjunction with a traditional math curriculum. This series really pushes your student to think outside of their typical assumptions. My son enjoys the challenge of it. I started him a whole grade level lower than his other math and it's worked out perfectly. He is familiar with how the problems work, but this challenges him to push outside his "programming" to try new things.

Nothing else comes close
Spent numerous months and dollars buying various supplemental math books for my then rising 6th grader. Finally stumbled upon "Competition Math for Middle School" by J. Batterson. Having done math olympiads in my school years I could immediately appreciate the combination of material review, break down of the examples and a supporting practice set which is not just "10 copies of the same problem". Bottom line I was a very happy customer of that book and was praising it to my friends. One day in a conversation I lamented, "I wish he had written a similar book for younger students" (having 2 younger kids myself). "Well, have you tried googling?" was the response. Doh! And that's how I found Beast Academy. I can honestly say it has exceeded all my expectations. All the same great qualities of "Competition Math", plus great visualization of the solutions for the younger minds. Much bigger practice sets and still none of the mundane repetition -- each problem has a slightly different angle at the material. Double-start problems that can be fun for the kid and his/her older sibling to work on together. I highly recommend evaluating your kids level using practice test on their website. My 4th grader wasn't ready for Grade 4 set at the beginning of the year. So we started with 3 and I can see how his progress is accelerating. He's flying through 3d part now and we'll be starting on 4 before the end of the school year.

Great books to teach math to kids
My son and I have worked on the four sets of second-grade books, and we found them to be excellent.

I've looked into large number of Eastern European, Singaporean, UK and US Primary School Maths books and I'm sure that Best Academy is the best one. Comic stories are great fun to read and create strong attachment to the subject. Best Academy Grade 3 covers all necessary areas and gives very gentle introduction to complicated topics like variables and fractions.

These books appear to be unofficial reprints. The print is fuzzy, the artwork is cropped, and the paper quality is poor. I’ve notified Amazon because this listing doesn’t seem to match authentic editions.
