Mafioso: The Underworld Strategy Card Game

Really love this game. Fun mechanic. Subject matter NOT for kids!Had to implement 2 House Rules to avoid too quick elimination during the Second Round a well as speed up gameplay at endgame.1. "Hunker Down": AT ANY TIME during the Second Round, not just on their turn, if a player is down to only one Wiseguy (showing or in their hand) they MAY state that they are going to "Hunker Down" and that Wiseguy can no longer be killed by any Attack cards. Dice attacks only are allowed and RAT! cards can still kill them. However, if the one remaining Wiseguy is in their hand, it MUST be played on their turn. In this round, ending a turn without a Wiseguy in play still results in elimination. (We found people were getting eliminated too quickly when allowing the very last Wiseguy to be killed with an Attack card because the chances of having the correct Retaliation card to counter were just too low.)Notes on this rule:--- If all of a a player's remaining Wiseguys are in play (more than one) and are all killed at once, by a Drive-By Shooting, for instance, that player is eliminated as normal. The player does not then get the chance to "Hunker Down" with one of the last killed Wiseguys. Dead is dead.--- ANY TIME means ANY TIME in the Second Round. If Stan only has 2 Wiseguys left and they are both in play and, on Cathy's turn, she eliminates 1 of them with an Attack card, Stan may immediately state he is going to "Hunker Down" with the last remaining Wiseguy. This could potentially affect Cathy's next Action which adds a nice little component of attack strategy when deciding on the order of attacks.--- If a player forgets to call "Hunker Down" with their last remaining Wiseguy, or for strategy purposes, chooses to gamble and not reveal their weakness and that Wiseguy is killed by an Attack card, that player is eliminated as normal. You wanna continue to be a Mafioso, you gotta pay attention!2. Forced "Trade In" Action: After the FIRST PLAYER has called "HUNKER DOWN," a new Action requirement is implemented for all players. If a player does not "Play One Card" or "Trade In Cards" for one of their first two Actions they MUST complete the Trade In Action (1, 2 or 3 cards) for their third Action. Without this rule, players would stop drawing cards (Don't want the RAT!) and would complete three dice attacks and nothing more until all opponents were eliminated. All other gameplay virtually stopped.So glad I backed this game on Kickstarter and am even more thrilled now to see it finally available for sale on Amazon.

The big Boss is coming back to town and there's only space enough for a single gang, set up businesses and take down your rivals to make sure you come out on top! That's roughly the gist of the game. It may sound simple, but it has plenty of subtleties which make every single game play out differently.The game is quick to learn and its fast pace (1-2 hrs./game) ensures that by game two everybody is ready to experiment. But most importantly the game is a ton of fun, and goes great with beer and snacks.

Mafioso is a very cool game & works equally well with two as with more players.The decks and box are nice quality and it is very quickly learned + maddeningly addictive. My teenage daughter plays it now with her own friends & the cool-girl demure disappears entirely.Certainly helps to release the inner gangsta!Great fun!

I really enjoy playing this game. I'm so glad I have it.Its fun to play with two people but even better with more, I have already featured it inmany game nights and enjoy the Mafia theme immensely.
