Yes. Unreal Audio Recordings From a Cell Phone.
This mic is unreal. If you record voice-overs for videos or podcasts or whatever, this allows you to do high-quality work on your cell phone, tablet, notebook, or possibly whatever device you use to record audio. I was a little skeptical because I figured my cell phone audio recording system might have several weak links, not just the microphone. Turns out the rest of the audio recording pipeline on my cellphone is reasonably solid, so using this microphone makes an astounding difference on my cell phone. And it makes outstanding recordings on my PC as well. If you make videos or record podcasts (especially on the go), I can't recommend this mic enough. I should have bought it long ago. Makes a huge difference. You can honestly record using this mic alone on a cell phone using any recording app in a quiet environment and get solid results. If you are comfortable doing some basic sound editing and using very simple VST plug-ins, get the TNT Voice Executor plug-in from Audified and you will get results so good that the vast majority of people (not including audio pros) will be thoroughly impressed with your voiceover/audio. I added the square trade insurance for a few bucks and I will keep the mic stored in the "pleather" bag that was in the package, so I'm hoping to get plenty of use out of these. Will update this review as needed. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. The difference this microphone makes is astounding. I haven't tried it for voice dictation yet, but I'm confident it will be overkill for that, since the inferior boom-mics I currently use already give me solid, reliable results. Bottom Line: If you're thinking about getting this, get it. No way you'll regret it.

May Be the Best Wired Lav Mic in the sub-$100 class
I have used four other lav mics, wired and wireless, and this Rode is by far the best I've used. I make tutorial videos, and good sound is not just important, it's critical. Sometimes, I need to roam quite a distance from the camera, so I tried a wireless lav mic. Not being ready to shell out $600 for the really good ones, I bought a $45 wireless lav mic, and it works ... okaaaay, but I wasn't happy with the sound. Now my setup is the Zoom H1n digital recorder, which is small enough to carry with me, and this Rode SmartLav lavalier microphone, wired to the recorder. So far, this is by far the best voice recording setup I have found. In testing this unit, I fastened it to the front of my shirt, about 4" below my chin, and spoke a number of test sentences, including rotating my head from the far left to the far right while speaking. If you've ever worked with lav mics before, you know this can produce a very distracting difference in sound and volume. With the Rode, the difference in speaking volume was nearly indistinguishable. Additionally, the sound quality of the voice was spot on. Very little background noise, almost zero distracting mouth noise (such as smacks, clicks, pops). I've only been using this for a few days, so cannot yet attest to its durability, but as of now I'm very happy with this item.

Use this item with the combo I suggest for PERFECT and STRAIGHT recording on a SINGLE device
A bad audio can turn a great video into a terrible video. Your viewers may ignore your bad video and bad lighting but will NOT forgive your bad audio. Built-in mics of phones/tablets are substandard, sound tinny and are not powerful enough to record audio from a distance which is why people record audio on a separate device using a Mic on their person and sync it later. If you want great audio, you need an external mic. If you want to shoot a cool videos with GREAT audio on a SINGLE device without having to download, sync up audio/video later in an editor, use this combo and it works with just one phone or tablet (no need to use 2 devices to record audio/video separately and sync audio/video in post production editing): If you want to shoot a cool videos with GREAT audio on a SINGLE device without having to through the hassle of downloading them, syncing up audio/video later in an editor, use this combo and it works with just one phone or tablet - no need to use 2 devices to record separately and sync audio/video: [copy/paste the links into your browser's address bar and press Enter] http://amzn.to/296LbrH http://amzn.to/292JOrD (2 mics and 1 headphones) http://amzn.to/29nvCdg (20 feet but NO loss of audio quality) If the breakout box does not fit due to your bulky phone case, plug the extension cable into the phone and then plug the breakout box in between the extension cable and the mic. The items I mentioned above are TRRS that connect with iOS devices well. If you want to connect the SmartLav+ to a camera or an audio recorder or other O/S devices that have TRS jack, you need this adapter (I have this one too): http://amzn.to/2aIPAjn Just make sure you get the latest SmartLav+ (plus) and NOT the older version that has some noise (smartLav): http://amzn.to/296LbrH If you are not clear with TRRS-vs-TRS-vs-TS, search Google for TRRS vs TRS. Alternatives/optional items: http://amzn.to/29fF3zG http://amzn.to/29jwTnJ For video recording, use FiLMiC Pro app with FiLMiC Remote app - the BEST. For audio recording, use Rode Rec or MetaRecorder apps - both are cool. The above combo works great for me! HTH

Excelente microfone!

First things first - the mic has really good sound quality and is absolute value for money. I wanted to use it for moto vlogging and the wire was thin enough for me to roll it all up and hide it inside the helmet. Mic uses power from the device you are connecting it to so keep enough battery backup if you are looking for longer recordings. GoPro has a c-type port and will require an adapter to affix a mic. There is one available from GoPro itself. This mic has trrs connection jack. While some devices use trrs, some use trs. Incase you have a device, like GoPro, that uses a trs connection then you will need another adapter that converts trrs to trs jack. I spent a lot of time and learnt it the hard way struggling to find out why was there no sound going into my video. Check with your connecting device for the type of socket it has and order accordingly. My recommendation is either the company should include trrs to trs adapter in the packaging, or mention it on the page about this requirement.
