3M Grill Cleaner is Excellent!
We used the 3M Scotch-Brite griddle cleaning kit every day, six days a week for over 10 years when we owned our restaurant. At the restaurant we used the griddle cleaner at the end of the evening to clean the stainless-steel flat-top grill. By the end of the day the grill was always covered with residue from the various foods. We always cleaned the grill while it was hot. It was great to find the same kit available on Amazon for our home use, we use it on our flat-top grill at home. It works great and is food safe and keeps the flat-top clean. At home, we use the griddle cleaner on a warm grill and rinse with lukewarm water, let grill dry and apply a lite coating of vegetable oil with a clean cloth or paper towel and its set for the next use. If you are looking for a flat-top grill cleaner this is an excellent product.

This stuff is a must have, but not for morons
Before I bought this kit I read a ton of reviews. I have a Blaze stainless steel griddle. I have never cooked on a griddle before, I have never worked in the food and beverage industry either so I was a complete novice when it came to using such a device. I learn fast and here is what I have figured out. One, you need to know your equipment. Two, you need to know the temperature of said equipment. Three know how to use the product correctly. There are many reviews of this product that simply aren't reflective of the product and highlight the fact they don't know how to use it and their own equipment correctly. I assume they are using a laser thermometer in most cases. Alright here is the details. The griddle is 304 stainless steel. You cannot get an accurate temperature from a laser thermometer, the reason is emissivity. This is the measurement of an objects ability to emit infrared energy. A shiny object has a lower emissivity than a black object. Most infrared thermometers are set at 95, 304 stainless is 41-45 You can buy laser thermometers that have adjustable emissivity, which I did from Thermoworks but even then I found that they still won't be accurate because as stainless steel heats up it changes color slightly which then will effect the accuracy of the thermometer. You can change the emissivity as it changes color but I found this wouldn't be very accurate either. Long and short don't use infrared laser thermometers on a griddle. Use a surface thermometer such as the Thermoworks Pro-surface Thermapen. It will accurately tell you the temp of the surface instantly. Changes everything when you know what you're cooking at. Oh, and when you want to use this stuff. With the griddle at the right temperature you can clean the griddle to like new condition in less that 5 minutes. I know they say three but there is a little more clean up than just using this product. It takes care of the majority of the work then I finish with water mixed with a dash of white vinegar and it is spotless. I made a video for my cousin with one hand cleaning it and one operating my phone, showing what this stuff does because he had just installed a griddle in his outdoor kitchen as well and hadn't used it as of yet. I knew from my experiences he would appreciate this stuff. It used to take me about an hour to clean the surface of the griddle to like new before this product. So it is a real game changer, it makes me want to use the griddle so much more now that I don't even think about using the grill very often. If you are going to use a griddle, at least a stainless steel griddle that is, be sure to have this on hand, it will make clean up a snap.

Good for big jobs, too toxic for frequent use.
Backstory: I have owned a Wolf griddle twice in my life after moving into homes where they were already installed and used. The first one had been kept pretty clean (and so I kept it clean), but this second one the previous owner let a carbonized seasoned layer build up - so I went with it and did the same! I always cleaned it with a wet rag but let the layer stay on. Nothing ever stuck to it this way. One day recently I finally googled Wolf griddle care and learned I should have been cleaning it like I used to on the first one. But where to begin? Vinegar probably couldn’t get through the 6 year carbonized layer on this baby. Enter this product. It took 3 rounds (and 3 packets of chemicals) to get it as clean as possible. It could not get off the black spots you see in my photos. But it did clean off 98% of the build up. I am HOPING I can get the rest up with vinegar. The product did smoke, but that’s to be expected. Use your vent hood. What I did not like is that my nasal passages still seem irritated after being near the smoke yesterday, despite the fact that I had my vent going the whole time and I didn’t stand directly over it. I would recommend this product for a deep clean, every once in awhile if you have build up, but due to the chemical irritation I’ll stick with vinegar and water for daily cleaning. My before picture is actually AFTER I scrapped off the black seasoned/carbonized layer that was built up. I failed to snap one before scraping. My after is after 3 packets/rounds of cleaning and applying a coat of oil.

Easy and highly effective
Wow! Works exactly as advertised. Follow the included directions to the letter. Have tried many griddle cleaning methods over the last 30 years. Nothing comes close to this product for ease of use and effectiveness. The resulting dirty "goo" is pretty sticky stuff, so wipe up & clean surfaces, tools, grease trap, etc. promptly, while the goo is still warm.

At the correct temperature this stuff is great!
The stainless grill in the kitchen of our Church had not been cleaned for years. There was thick coat of burnt/varnished/food in the middle that we couldn’t get off, so we cooked on the sides and didn’t use the middle. I purchased this kit hoping to finally get the entire griddle clean and usable again. The instructions said for heavily soiled surfaces you may need to clean it more than once. I did have to use multiple packets, but in the end the whole surface looks evenly clean, no more gunk in the middle! Some tips – Make sure the temperature of the griddle is hot (300-350F – 350F is the max for the pads, so I tried to hit around 310-320F) BUT NOT TOO HOT. As you can see in some of the reviews here, if you let the surface get too hot then you will get bad results. How can you tell the temperature of your griddle? DON’T RELY ON THE TEMPERATURE KNOBS ON YOUR GRILL. You really need use a flat surface/grill surface temperature probe. The infrared things are only close, and you really can’t trust the knobs on the griddle, so if you’re going to use this product you need to invest in a surface temperature thermometer. After cleaning, I wiped the surface with a wet rag, used a pumice block to finish things off, then then re-seasoned the surface. I'll be trying out the whole griddle this weekend! 2/14/20 Update: I’ve used this system a number of times now, and it’s still great. When I clean the griddle I have a number of people watch to see how well it cleans. Last week someone stopped by after I cleaned it and asked how it got so clean (they never saw it that clean before). Again, the temperature is very important. If your griddle is about 400 or hotter then the pad will start to melt and disintegrate. Read some of the reviews of from others where their pad and squeegee melted – their griddle was way too hot. You have to accurately check the temperature of your griddle. How do you know how hot your griddle is? Don’t trust the knobs! To get 320F on my griddle I had to set the three burners knobs to 110F, off, and 220F. You need to use a good surface thermometer. Don’t use an infrared thermometer. Mine was off by 100F! So, get a good surface temperature probe, measure all around it until you get all spots in a range of 320-340F, then apply the use the product and get a great looking griddle.

Amazing Stuff!
I've tried many different products and methods to clean my griddle but nothing else has worked as well and as easily as this kit - the griddle looks like new! It takes everything off. Just follow the included (laminated) directions. A couple of notes: The directions say to heat the griddle to 300 - 350 degrees and I use an infrared gun to make sure I'm in this range - the liquid is fairly thick right out of the package but thins and cleans nicely at this temperature. The packages have a "starter" tear slit on one corner to make opening easier. After using the scrubbing pad and squeegee, you can soak them in warm soapy water and the black goo washes right off. The initial investment may seem a little high but the scrubbing pads last a long time and the refill liquid is reasonably priced for the time and effort it saves.

This cleaned my griddle
This worked surprisingly well. It had a slight odor but wasn’t bad. The directions are clear and I followed them. I did need to use it twice to get my griddle fully clean but my griddle was very dirty.
