Habil Aliyev (born 1927 in Agdash, Azerbaijan) is a prominent Azeri kamancheh player. His music has been widely appreciated in the Middle East and Europe. In 1953 he started accompanying a dance ensemble and then playing kemancha within a trio band in the State Philharmonic Society of Azerbaijan. Habil Aliyev’s first TV concert took place in 1961. The Segah, performed with a new technique, caused wide discussions among music fans. In the late 1950s-early 1960s Habil Aliyev developed as a unique master of kemancha and became popular among the people. Aliev is well versed in Persian traditional music and played for many years in Tehran concert halls.
