Matchitecture - Chrysler Building

My first attempt at matchitecture. Retired and spent about two months part time on the project. I am very satisfied with the instructions, methodology, and great templates. I used carpenters glue and a razor blade scraping blade on a bamboo cutting board to cut the matchsticks. Very happy with result. Had plenty of matchsticks left over. May try another design. Highly recommended for those with time and patience.

Other Matchitecture reviewers have been absolutely correct about how much time the project takes, and the relatively slow pace. I bought the Xuron Micro-Shears to use instead of the included cutter and am very glad I did. It would be much more difficult to make cut lengths match, and little differences matter quite a bit in these projects. The tube of glue included was totally insufficient, it's almost gone half way through. Still, it's very satisfying to watch the tower climb!

I have been looking for a hobby that I could do at home that takes time and would be fun to do while watching TV. I have found it. It have step by step instructions and comes with all the material needed to start the project. I would advice that you buy additional glue. For the amount of time it takes to craft this item you get fun at about 25 cents per day! I would suggest this product and I do plan on buying more of these.This is the first one that I have purchased and started putting together. I would advise that you start simple, beginner/intermediate level and work your way up from there. The Matchitecture website tells you which are beginner/intermediate and which are expect.Have fun and I hope this was helpful!

The product it self was fine had no issues with it. However it’s not as easy as it appears to be and very time consuming. You can’t do more then one step at a time in order for glue to dry to the plastic sheet that you place over the pattern to create the building. The cutting tool was the worst part of the whole thing. Doesn’t cut well at all and there’s no way to get the angles you need with the cutter. With that being said I think I completed 5 stein in a matter of 3 weeks and I’ve given up on it it’s in the box on my dresser. I’m sure one day when I e got nothing better to do then watch glue dry for hours and struggle to cut the pieces to correct size I’ll get back to it but for now it has a home on the dresser! I wouldn’t buy it again that’s for sure . I’m not dissapointed I bought it but I’d not make a purchase of it or anything like it again l. If you’ve hit the time it’s great if not don’t waste your money

What the heck. I'm in my 30s and quite handy and I found this to be nearly impossible. Gave up after a long afternoon. The cutter is TERRIBLE. Non of the ppiece come out exact enough. AND you have to glue them on top of a plastic sheet and wait for them to dry before you can move on to the next piece. Took forever.

this was great, wasy and fun to build, the only thing it is not the same scale as the empire state builiding I also have, making the chrysler building taller.. than the Empire State, I reccomend having 100 grit sandpaper to trim the pieces to more accurate lengths than you can make with the cutter, as it lacks any degree or measurement to align the blade with where you need to cut ( i don't expect a laser like the 10" table saws have, but come on, some kind of mm or cm ( Canadians and metric ) would be nice to have on the cutter, which comes with every kit..

The directions and design are suberb. It was very easy to go step-by-step and succesfully complete this model. I didn't give it 5 stars because the cutter is a bit duller than I'd like and I can't imagine being able to complete it with the safety guard intact because of the smaller pieces. Also, the plastic tweezers are not good, and I will buy cosmetic tweezers for the next one. This model is for people who are patient, you will need many hours to complete it, but since you start assembling the 3D parts as you go along, you are kept motivated. I must say I loved building it, and though I wasn't patient enough to make it as accurate as it should have been, it still looks good. This is a good one to start with, since there are fewer than 1,000 beams, unlike many of the others. You will need to have your own sandpaper. There is somewhat of a learning curve, and if you haven't made any other models like me, you'll go through the same thing. Still, I can't wait to get my next one, the Eiffel Tower. I know I'll get better. It's hard for me to imagine a 12-year-old with the patience to spend so much time, but some have it, so be aware that your child should have a great deal of patience.

I am a 52 year old grandma of three. I live in North Idaho where the winters can be long and hard. Was looking for a new hobby and came across Matchitecture while searching. I am not the knitting or sewing kind of grandma and love doing things with my hands so I decided to give this a try. Got my kit about a week ago and can't stop building! This is right up my ally and really fun. The farther I go in the project the better I am getting at it. It may not be a world class piece of art when I am done but that doesn't matter to me. I am enjoying this very much.

Consigliatissimo per chi ha come hobby il modellismo. Le istruzioni si presentano chiare, ma bisogna rimboccarsi le maniche e lavorarci per tanto tempo prima di vedere i risultati. Consiglio l'acquisto a coloro che possiedono molta pazienza, il rischio altrimenti è quello di non completare il lavoro. Ottimo passatempo. Nel kit è presente anche una taglierina e una boccetta di colla che non so se riesca ad essere sufficiente per l'intero lavoro.Buon lavoro...

Purchased this as a present for my dad - trying to find him alterative hobbies now he is retired. He loved it, kept him quiet for numerous days. Also got him addicted to building with matchsticks. He has now gone onto creating his own designs.

new hobby, I haven't started yet. but looks cool.
