This Gator Hide is “good stuff.” I painted two vanities with Dixie Belle products. The Gator Hide product imparts a water resistant finish on the doors and drawers. There’s an array of colors from which to choose. The Gator Hide goes on easily. It dries quickly, making it easy to apply multiple coats. I’m very pleased.

I used this on my kitchen table after I painted it. It provides a hard, durable tabletop. It is somewhat difficult to apply to get a clear surface and you need to find the proper applicator and follow directions. If you’re a somewhat experienced chalk painter you should be able to use it with good results.

This is the second container I have purchased for a rental property we are remodeling. I decided to use this after I finished a kitchen backsplash with chalk paint. It was actually an ugly linoleum that I took a chance on refinishing to keep the cost down and trying to remove it would have caused the plaster on a 100 year old building to crumble. I’m so happy I did . . . with 3 coats of Gater Hide the finished project looked like tiles and I feel confident it will hold up for years. It levels out if you carefully apply it with a sponge and long smooth passes. It’s a beautiful satin finish.

Left a really nice eggshell type finish on a newly painted table top. Easy to apply, and dried fast. Plan on three coats.

I overall like the utility of this product as being waterproof. It was mostly easy to apply. However, it did yellow in the crevasses of the table. Admittedly I was working on a difficult piece to use this product on. It was a side table with a raised edge. As a result it was difficult to keep the product from pooling in the edges. As you can see these crevasses have yellowed. (no dark wax was used in this area).

I used this topcoat on a wood cabinet in 2020 & still looks great..no yellowing.

I have bought three of these large sizes and have been coating my furniture with it to protect it from water damage. I used a blue sponge that one can buy from Amazon. Super strong and rock hard! I used to cover my furniture tops with cloth runners, afraid of water or a hot cup or hot plate warping the wood and leaving water rings. This is really amazing. Make sure you use a thin coat and leave it on for a minimum of 2 hours before applying a second coat, especially if your item is not real wood.
