The knife block is the real reason I bought the set. I have small countertops, and I wanted a knife block that wouldn't take up a lot of space. Thanks to the layout of the slots, this is really very compact. My very first knife block weighed in at 24 slots, nearly all of them empty of course. I replaced it with a Wusthof branded 6-Slot knife block, which at least had the slot for the kitchen shears (something missing from most small knife blocks), but that was really a slot or two shy of my perfect size. I couldn't store my sharpener in the block where it was convenient, and my bread knife had to live in a drawer. However, if 6 slots is enough for you, I do recommend it as a great alternative. This block, which is about the same width as the Wusthof, is a little bit deeper, and the inclusion of a slot for both the sharpener and the kitchen shears was perfect.The knives in the set are only so-so. They're razor sharp right out of the box, but they're thin, and if you like some heft to your knives, be aware that these are very light. The handles are metal, with no seam between the blade and where the handle begins, but from the weight, I would say they could be hollow. The colored parts are plastic insets that are flush with the metal handle. As a whole, they feel like they are well constructed, but like most stamped knives, there is a limit to how well they will hold up over time.

WOW! This knife set certainly lives up to it's name, reputation and expectations!About 10-years ago I purchased a Cuisinart 5-piece set (block holder, chef knife, large and small santoku knife and bread/utility knife) from Bed Bath and Beyond for $30 - $40 with coupons, but was never happy with the size of the set because I needed to purchase a separate sharpener and scissors, which couldn't be stored in the block; however, I needed a small set and wasn't happy with any of the other brands either.Finally I found this set on Amazon and it's Perfect!!!The knifes, not matter their purpose all have VERY sharp blade edges, a good weight and length to them.The handles are bright and vibrantly colored and so decorative to the kitchen.The block set includes a knife sharpener and scissors.The storage block is well designed, well weighted and balanced and won't easily tip over.The blades all have an engraved product name and code for easily making a single replacement order if one accidently damages or loses a knife.I highly recommend hand washing and drying each knife after use and DO NOT place in a dish washer, it'll dull the blades and fade or peel the handle colors.I'd purchased this as a gift, especially as a wedding gift.

Won't purchase for a gift

After years of using sub-par and not very good quality knives, I was finally able to afford a new set for my kitchen remodel. This set caught my eye based on their looks - the bright colors that label each knife, the lovely block that matches any kitchen set up. The knives are heavy, made for every day use, are razor sharp and keep their edge, and feel good in my hand. I have smaller hands, and while the chef's knife (8") felt a bit unwieldy, it's balanced enough that after I got used to it, I barely noticed. The knives cut through vegetables and meat with no resistance, and the two paring knives - one standard, one curved - are perfect for the peaches and stone fruits we like to eat in my house. This is a lovely set, would make a phenomenal gift, and its price cannot be beaten. Cuisinart made an outstanding product here, and these knives will serve me well for years to come.

I am so disappointed that I bought these and with in months the handle color has come off the handles!!! I like the knife brand but hate that the reason I got these was the handle color😡😡😡

I haven't had these very long, but I can't say I'm terribly impressed. They're starting to dull already and the scissors are difficult to open and close and not terribly sharp so I don't often use them if I have a different pair that's clean. Why make scissors that you can't open with one hand?What's most annoying is that the knife block stands the knives too straight instead of at an angle. I've had to use my old knife block from my last set instead of the one that came with this set or I wouldn't be able to pull knives out of the block while it sits on the counter under the upper cupboards. Unless you're putting this knife block on an island or peninsula in no man's land, don't hold your breath about actually using the block if your counters and cupboards are at standard heights. I've tried the knife block in two different houses without success. Having to use a knife block that wasn't meant for this set means they don't fit well in the slots, which is irritating. Overall I'd say this set is a fail.

I use this product as a set of knives that are useful in a beautiful wooden box to hold all the knives. It looks great on my kitchen counter and each knife is easy to get when I need it. Thanks

Guess you get what you pay for these are just okay nothing great

I like the set. It's very colourful, which was a selling point for me, and it has all of the knives I use on a regular basis. It seems to be a sturdy product, which I expected from CUISINART.I also like that it has the scissors and sharpener included. Very nice set for the price.

Buenas tardes, compré estos cuchillos, son de muy buena calidad en sí, pero la cubierta de colores, como podrán ver en la fotografía adjunta, se esta desapareciendo. No encontré la manera de escribir directamente al vendedor, lamento que sea público pero no sé qué hacer. Saludos.

Malísimos!!!! Los compré por los colores pero se rayan muy rápido y de ven súper mal. Desgraciadamente no los puedo devolver por el tiempo. Me imagino que por eso tienen ese descuento

The best part of the knives, the colorful plastic on the handles, is now the worst part because the plastic is peeling off. We are beyond the 30 day return window (received late in 2019), so now we're stuck with them.

Love the colored handles. Knives are wonderful and sharp. My last set of knives were Cuisinart and lasted for years. Hopefully these will last as long.
