I’ve never read a book where the heroine is the Domme in the relationship, but let me tell you, if all of them are like Mistress Anne, I’ll gladly read more.What I loved most about Anne is that everything about her screams independent woman, but there’s also a softer side to her that few know about because she doesn’t willingly expose it. She’s all about control, and she’s ice cold with her emotions or so she wants everyone to think, but beneath the Domme exterior is a woman who has deep feelings for her friends, an affinity against change, and a deep seated need for her father’s approval.As I read her and Ben’s story, it amazed me how well Anne kept her mask on around everyone. She never came across as a vulnerable woman; she’s harda** to the core and that’s exactly what she wants to be perceived as, but I think it also makes it easier for people to disregard her feelings, never looking beyond the façade and seeing the woman within.At face value, Ben’s a dominating guard dog who serves and protects with ease. As a former Army Ranger, he understands the control that’s needed to ensure everyone’s safety. But, like Anne, there’s a different kind of man beneath the tough and gruff exterior. A man who fights demons from his time of service and actually likes to give up control and be told what to do because following directions allows him to simply act.Anne and Ben together doesn’t seem to make sense – a sadist and a vanilla – but looks can be deceiving, and as they explore the connection that’s between them, readers witness both of them changing with every interaction, making them both question if how they’ve been living is what they truly want or if change can actually be a good thing, leading towards something better.Cherise Sinclair’s Masters of the Shadowlands series continues to be a collection of well written, character driven stories where the sexual encounters illustrate the characters’ personalities and what they need to either help them cope with issues from their past or to allow them to express who they are at their core. The series also allows readers to understand the many facets of the BDSM world and get a taste of the different kinds of relationships, play situations, and scenes that are involved in this sensual environment.Servicing the Target is a great storyline that allows Anne and Ben to show multiple sides of their personalities and prove to readers that there’s definitely more to what people want and need than their outward façade portrays. What I also love about the book/series is that there are always follow-up scenes that allow readers to catch up with past couples and see how their futures are working out. 4 stars ⭐️Another great addition and another first for me. First time I’ve read a female Domme and male sub, which did worry me going in but was great to read.I enjoyed Anne and Ben together. I loved Ben and how he was willing to try and be what Anne thought she needed. It’s easy when your reading to see what is in front of your face but when living it, it’s a whole other story. Anne and Ben worked the way they with only the d/s parts in the bedroom. Ben was never going to handle being told what to do all the time. But Anne couldn’t see that they were working and working well as she was used to controlling everything and wanted a slave.I liked Anne. I liked that she was able to really look at situations and analyse what happened, even her own actions and own her mistakes and then work out what to do about it. There was no hiding from her actions or ignoring them and her part in what went wrong. I must admit I didn’t find her all that hard.Ben was a good foil for her. He had his own set of issues but was working through them. He was comfortable enough and confident enough that he could let her lead and take care of herself only jumping in when necessary. His jealousy did force him to make a decision that was nearly detrimental to the relationship but it worked out in the end.All in all a great book.

I loved this book so hard! I don't often find books where the woman is so in charge, so confident, and so powerful. Anne was everything and I loved her! She was smart, strong, powerful, and yet she still came across as realistic and sympathetic. It's so easy to go too hard on a strong woman in books, but every moment with Anne felt like spending time with just an awesome woman. And Ben was incredible, too. He was alpha in so many ways, but he was also understanding and not intimidated by a strong woman. For me, there is nothing hotter than a man who is capable and smart, but also willing to step aside and let this woman do what she can do best and not be insecure or emasculated.And now to the sex in this book, which was incredible! In my opinion Sinclair writes some of the hottest sex scenes I've read. The emotional component she is able to include in each one means these scenes are just as, if not more so, important than the dialogue. They show a connection and communication between two (or more) people that drives the couples all that more deeper.I loved this book, I loved Anne and Ben, and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves their reads super steamy, and love a woman in charge in the bedroom.

I seriously can not get enough of Cherise Sinclair's Shadowlands series and this new addition was just as fantastic as the other 9 books.I was always intrigued by the Shadowlands door keeper so was more than excited when I found out he would have his story alongside Mistress Anne, I just knew this book would would be electric and it by no means disappointed!!Ben has never played in the Shadowlands everyone there knows he is sexually vanilla, he keeps guard at the door while everyone else plays inside but then after seeing Mistress Anne on a night out with the Shadowlands subs he sees a different side of her and it piques his interest. In this book you see Ben realise that maybe he isn't as vanilla as he first thought when Mistress Anne gives him a taste of the lifestyle but how far will he go to have a relationship with her and in the end will they both be happy together??I loved this book so much, Cherise has a way of creating characters and storylines that draw you in and just leave you craving more of her books.Anyone who hasn't read The Shadowlands series I highly recommend it. Thank you Cherise for yet another great book in this series.

I really enjoyed this the latest instalment of the Shadowlands club. This one is the story of Mistress Anne and Ben the vanilla Security Guard. I have had a soft spot for Ben since his first appearance back in the beginning, and it was nice to get to know him here. It was also nice to meet Anne, one of the mistresses in more depth.This book is well written and fast paced, with super hot sex scenes and well rounded and realistic characters. Even the pets in this series feel real! I have read the series from number one and I feel that this is the best way to read them. Out of order reading is possible but you will get spoilers reading them this way.I think one of the strengths of this author is the characterisation. the same people appear in all these stories to a greater or lesser extent, the stories interlink and move on which I really like and they are proper length novels (except for the shorter one in the 1001 nights series).If you like Romantic Erotica you can't go wrong with this one. It is one of the best of the whole series with no sign of the author running out of steam.

I forgot how thrilling it is to read a BDSM book with a strong female lead who isn't submissive. Anne has been a long running character in this series and her story is an exceptional addition to the Shadowlands.She's strong, compassionate, fierce and completely worthy of a girl crush.Her relationship with Ben is all of that, not to mention beautiful in places.

Anne is a Domme and one of the Mistresses at the Shadowlands who has a certain type of sub that she enjoys, mainly pretty boys in to pain. But Ben is tempting her in ways she didn't expect and causing her to reconsider her preferences.Ben never realised he was a submissive but he's willing to give the lifestyle a shot to get a chance with Mistress Anne. The more time they spend together the closer they become but can Ben be what Anne needs? And can Anne be happy with a different type of relationship to what she is used to?I've loved The Shadowlands series for quite some time now and was interested to see how Anne's story would play out. I am pleased to say I really enjoyed it. Ben was relentless in his pursuit of Anne and it was really fascinating to see another side of the harsh Mistress.I will admit that at first I was surprised by the change to Anne's character as it was so unexpected and I wasn't sure if I was happy with the softer side we were seeing but as the story continued and her relationship with Ben developed I realised it was always a part of her, it just hadn't been obvious before.I was slightly disappointed in the attitudes of the other Masters when they realised that Anne and Ben were playing together as they would hate to be questioned or judged for their actions and it seemed very hypocritical. But I did appreciate how they addressed and made amends for their actions. The shadow kittens making sure that Anne realised she had a large circle of friends that were there for her, for both the good times and bad, was a really pleasant counterpoint to the Masters actions.The twists and turns of the story and the emotional ups and downs were really gripping from start to finish and was a great continuation to the series - Ms Sinclair has certainly done it again.*I was offered an ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Another fantastic book in a fantastic series. So good to see Anne and Ben get together, a most unlikely couple but God did it work out well!I like the way Ms Sinclair creates such interesting and involved lives, past and present, for her characters. She never fails to get you hooked on a story and each and every person she writes about is in such detail you feel like you actually know them, it's bizarre!!!Really really REALLY can't wait to see who's next.Five stars, 10/10, 100% brilliant, what else can I say. If you love a good story, with normal believable characters living normal believable lives and coping with some painful life-affecting hurdles along the way (and indulging in some unbelievably hot n steamy sex!!) then this is the author and these are the books for you.
