I was hesitant about getting this. It was pricey, around £78 at the time and I was worried it wouldn't work or corrupt my PS4 or I'd do something wrong. It was a big decision. Anyway, it was the cheapest at the time and the only official PS4/PS5 external hard drive available, plus it was brand new. eBay had a few, a little cheaper but they were used and well, you never know what you're buying when purchasing a used hard drive or any used electronics for that matter. The hard drive has 2TB of space, no more, no less. 2TB is tons of space. I've already almost filled the entire thing. I had around thirty physical copies downloaded onto it, then I got over excited and starting browsing and buying digital games off the PS Store. Currently I've managed to fit around 39 to 42 full games and some expansions onto the hard drive, with maybe just under 300 to 500GB left. Some of these games were small, 1GB, some quite large, 45+GB. I need to save room for Elden Ring's expansion :D I'm betting that will be 45 to 80GB.Note that you have to turn off the hard drive before turning off the PS4. You do this by holding the PS button on the controller, which brings up a menu, you navigate to Sound/Devices and turn off the hard drive. Then it will tell you the PS4 is safe to switch off. The guide tells you this anyway when starting up the hard drive for the first time, so don't skip those short tutorials. It's pretty much plug and play.So, if you need extra space for your PS4 and who doesn't. Get this hard drive while it's cheap(under £100).

Bought this to use with my PS5 as I quickly got to the point where games (PS4 & 5) couldn’t even update without deleting content, and finally I was in the position where I had to delete something I was wanting to use regularly. (Why Sony persist on initially releasing hardware with storage unfit for purpose I don’t know but that’s another debate!). Anyway this 2 terabyte hard drive is the solution. Plenty of storage, not too expensive and very simple to use. Plug it in the back switch on the PS5, go to storage in settings, format the drive when requested which takes only a few seconds and transfer all your PS4 games across to the new drive. It gives an option to automatically install PS4 games to this drive. Your internal SSD in the PS5 will then have plenty of space. Games play just as quickly/smoothly from this drive with no noticeable difference. When an appropriate Sony authorised SSD becomes available I will probably upgrade to that as it is not possible to play PS5 games from this drive although they can be stored on it. I’ll then use this drive as a back up storage device for other files. Well worth the investment.

1st one I ordered didn't work so sent it bck and there was a quick replacement. This was easy to set up, and gave me the extra 2tb of room ready 4 me 2 transfer/install my games thanx & will order from use again in the future👍

Performs very well, and games can be run from it on some PS5s. A bit slow to transfer games onto it, but once they are on there it is very quick to put them back on the console storage. Good value for money and makes no noise. Sleek design that can be hidden with ease.

I ran out of original memory very quick on my ps4 with only few games installed. This is great as it gave me bunch more space and made the gaming experience much more enjoyable as I don't have to worry about space anymore. Was easy to set up too. Thumbs up
