AVANTEK Laptop Cooling Pad 77E

I have an older version of this cooling pad, thata has only one fan YET..IT IS GREAT. I use my laptop much more than the average owner. I play a lot of games/do a lot of study on the internet, etc. I can use it as much as 10 to 12 hours a day. Too much, probably, but that is me! ;) This laptop lasted what seemed like forever....a long, long, long, long time. I will repurchase this item. I bought 3 cooling pads at one time..from 3 different companies. This one was, by far the very, very best. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. To Avantek...Thanks for a great product that really works well. U have done a wonderful job

Update on the product:It has been over a year now and the fan is still running strong!I will provide a brief description of the product:Although it says 15-17 inches measured across the base is roughly 15 inches wide and 10 inches long (vertical) . The fan is 5 inches length and wide.There is a LED light display which you can turn on and off. The light color is blue. There is also 2 risers at the back of the pad, use to life the computer so it is leaning towards you.The design is quite nice, but the fan is not as powerful as i had thought it would be. Even hat max fan speed, it is not enough to cool my laptop. I would feel the fan blowing, but it is just not strong enough. The reason why the fan doesn't spin is fast is probably because the product came with only 1 usb cable. There are two usb slots on the left side of the fan. I would assume that by plugin in 2 usb cables to the laptop, there will be more battery consumption thus speeding up the fan, but because the product only came with one usb cable, the fan isn't very strong.There is also a turning dial to adjust the speed of the fan, which I am not exactly sure why it is even there because I assume buyers wan't the max fan speed.Props for being super log lasting and durable, if only the fan was stronger, then this would be the perfect product to purchase. Those who do end up buying this item should be prepared with an extra usb cable that way the fan can blow harder.Overall I am quite pleased with the product although i use it more as a stand now. I sometimes have to attach a mini fan onto the heat sink when it gets too hot.

This cooling pad arrived today. My laptop has been running close to 50 degrees C. I started using the cooling pad and within 15 minutes or so the temperature was down to the 40-41 range. Even on the high setting the fan is very quiet, and there is an on/off switch if you don't like the blue LED light. the fan automatically stops running when you shut down the computer or put it into hibernation. My laptop is a 17-inch Dell Inspiron and it fits perfectly.I don't know how durable this will be, obviously, but it seems to be well built. It has an extra USB port. I don't need the extra port at this time, but I tested it by hooking up my printer and it works fine.One word of warning - this cooling pad comes with two rubber friction pads to use if needed to help keep your laptop in place, but they come in a small plastic bag and must be attached by the user. I don't need them because the rubber pads on the bottom of my laptop keep it in place. Just be careful that you don't accidentally throw the pads away, because you might need them.

Returned due to fan issues. However, while I had it it was OK. Here are my pros and cons.Pros: Adjustable fan speed and on/off switch for light. Decent fan speed/air circulation. Quiet when fan was working properly and kept my laptop cool (while it was working).Cons: The legs at the back were not stiff? enough to keep it up. If I moved the item in an 'away from me' manner the legs would sometimes shut closed. I have an older 15.6 inch laptop so its heavier than newer models. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. The other issue, and why it was returned, is that the fan after about 2 weeks of minimal use, started to feel weak, even when set at max setting. I noticed this because my laptop was starting to get warm, which when the cooler works it stays cool. Then today the fan started to make loud noises off and on. Nothing was touching/near the fan.Due to the leg weakness and primarily due to the fan issues I returned this item rather than exchange it.

Edit 7/24/15: Added 2 stars because Claybox Customer Service took the time to respond, a very positive sign. I will consider this companies products in the future because of that.The product is well made but a couple of minor issues that could be addressed as I mentioned in my original comment. If you have one of the newer thin 17-inch laptops you might find the pad will work. It will definitely work with a 15.6-inch laptop.Original Comment: Really not big enough for a 17-inch laptop and fan placement is not optimal for cooling such a large surface area. The elevating legs slide around so it is unstable if you use it elevated, bad at first level really bad at second level. Seems to be built well, fan is quiet, like that light can be turned off but really only for a 15-inch laptop. Sorry, it is going back.

I only have experience with this cooling pad, and another, much more expensive one from Targus. I have to say that this is an awesome product. It's very slim and fits comfortably in my Laptop over the shoulder carrying case. Don't let it's slim factor fool you though, it provides excellent cooling. It has adjustable angle/height settings.The usb slot it uses to power itself is replaced by another free slot on the cooling pad, so you aren't losing a slot by using this periphal. The version I have allows you to turn on the fan, and adjust the speed if on, as well as giving you the option to turn the light on or off. All in all great product.

This is the product that I have been looking for for 3 years! No more hot spots on my legs when I use my laptop! The fan works wonderfully & allows me to be able to have more programs open at a time without the laptop overheating! Usually I only was able to have iPhoto open by itself, not any other program. This fan allows me to have iPhoto open & I can actually have other programs open too without my laptop getting the swirling beachball of death!Wonderful product & so thankful that I have it now!

Delivered really quickly. Its lightweight, delightfully quiet except for a muted hum on the highest setting and perfectly fits my laptop. It could do with a centimeter more on the sides if I'm being picky, can't see the light so no point to it really. Also if the base was more like a platform then you could comfortably use it on your lap without anything else - I do have a laptop cushion (from Ikea) which gives me the flat surface it needs and the dual height feet gives a good adjustable keyboard angle. The main reason why I only gave it 4 stars is that the two usb connections are only on one side - I'd rather not use my faster speed usb on the left hand side for anything other than my external hard drive, but the supplied usb cable is long enough to reach under the unit and still comfortably plug into the other side.All in all its a good piece of kit, keeps my laptop cool and hopefully will extend its life.

This is a quality well made product that after careful comparison over 7 days using Speedfan 4.5.1 drops the temperature on the HD, RAM GPU and 4 cores of the CPU by an average 5 to 8 deg C depending on room temp. My Lap Top is a Samsung Chronos which has no vents on the bottom shell so I am basically just cooling the chassis, I would imagine that with a vented bottom shell the results would be a few degrees lower due to the cold air being able to ge through the vents,

My laptop used to get scorchingly hot even with a cooling mat but now I have this pad everything is fine.I use it at the lowest fan speed and I can't hear it over the fans in the laptop and if the laptop ever goes to the high fan speed I just turn it up and then it is about as loud as the laptop was on its lowest speed.The only negative is that as my laptop got so hot all the rubber feet have fallen off so it slips about on the tray a bit. There were two small adhesive rubber pads with the tray and this helps a bit.

Bought this for my son who spends most his waking hours on his laptop, so much so that the wood of his desk has warped with the heat from his laptop. So far this has been working beautifully. It's lightweight but seems robust and is certainly effective. I also installed a temperature monitoring programming on his laptop and this keeps it at least 10 degrees cooler than before.

I have an ASUS 15" laptop which I occasionally use for gaming. This cooling pad keeps it nice and cool. It feels nice and solid, not like other cheap plastic ones out there. The laptop sits nicely on it and does not slip off. The fan is quiet but not completely silent. It has a blue LED which can be switched off, which is just as well as you can't see it when a laptop is placed on it. Overall excellent product. Highly recommended.
