RubyLux bulb works wonderfully
I have had lower back pain for about 50 years. Having been a staff RN in a hospital for 30 years, my lower back was injured and re-injured numerous times. The pain has varied in degree from just irritating to so severe that its sudden appearance has caused me to fall. I have had surgery once about 30 years ago and since have been treated by chiropractors, physical therapists. energy healers, an acupuncturist, physiatrists, and have used ice packs and heating pads, all with some level of temporary relief. I finally decided to try near infrared light therapy after a year of my back getting steadily worse. I bought a RubyLux Infrared Bulb. The first bulb burnt out after the first use and Bambi Iversen at RubyLux could not have been more helpful in getting a new one to me. The bulb is great! Several times I have felt the pain diminish until it's gone while doing a treatment. I have used heating pads many, many times and the level of heat required to bring pain relief and relaxation is very close to being painful. The pads also also warm up and cool down (I don't use automatic pads). Not so with the RubyLux. It provides a steady level of warmth that does not get hot as long as you follow the distance directions. The relief it provides includes a level of relaxation that I was never able to achieve with the heating pads. This relief lasts for about 3 or 4 hours and appears to be cumulative (due to traveling vacations I haven't been able to use it as regularly as I have wanted to). Being retired, there is no reason that I won't be able to use the lamp daily, at least. I would recommend the RubyLux bulb without hesitation, and have, to anyone who experiences joint pain. The only suggestion I have is be sure to get a clamp on light with a strong enough clamp to hold the lamp and bulb in any position.

That's definitely radiating some Near Infrared!
Before I ordered this I was using a brooding light from a farm store, also 250W. The difference in the feel of this heat is intense; penetrates more deeply, very relaxing and I know it's doing what it's supposed to do! Worth the extra $ to have a genuine long-life bulb. I'm just using it in the farm store brooder lamp clamp-on though, so I'd recommend a professional fixture where you can adjust the height over a bed or massage table. Good product!

Provides a lot of Pain Relief for Cancer Patient's Neck/Spine
*Scroll to 3rd paragraph to read about pain relief* I've been battling cancer for 2.5 years. There's 6 tumors, one wrapped around a blood vessel, pressing against the nerves behind my spine, causing tremendous pain. It's the kind of pain that's had me on opioids like morphine for 6 months going on 7. I finally got tired of the pain and went to "Hope4Cancer" clinic in Tijuana, Mexico for 1 month of treatment (I live in Texas btw). While I was there they had me do a Near Infrared Sauna session every other day. I noticed that their NIR Sauna was way hotter and more effective than mine at home. By hotter I mean it was like an instant furnace upon flipping the switch, and by more effective I mean I sweated waaaay more and I actually had a lot of pain relief within 5-7 minutes of each session. I've had a NIR Sauna for 2 years but haven't had the kind of pain relief that Hope4Cancer's sauna gave me. My sauna had x8 150-watt bulbs; Hope4Cancer had x6 250-watt bulbs. So while I was there I did some research on the best near infrared bulbs on Amazon and I ended up trusting RubyLux over all other brands. There are three statements by RubyLux that helped me make the decision to go with these bulbs: "emits NO far infrared rays[.] . . . free of toxic mercury, Teflon and fluorinated fumes[.] . . . [and] Each bulb is inspected, guaranteed and engineer-certified." I had to drop out of college to battle cancer 2.5 years ago so I forget how to correctly quote like that^ but I hope I did it right. So first impression is that RubyLux is specifically concerned about making sure we know that there is absolutely NO far infrared rays, which is very important for a cancer patient like me needing very specific treatment. The other two things (free of toxic stuff and each bulb inspected and certified) sealed the deal. When the bulbs came in I replaced 8 of my 150-watt bulbs with 5 RubyLux 250-watt bulbs. Let me tell you-- I was in awe when I turned on the sauna. It was an instant furnace just like at Hope4Cancer, but my sauna is a little smaller than theirs so mine gets even hotter, quicker! Normally I've been able to handle 30 minute sessions with x8 150-watt bulbs, but with x5 250-watt bulbs I was only able to tolerate 10 minutes on my first session. It took me 4 sessions to be able to work my way up to being in there for 20 minutes and really, I don't think I'm going to go up to 30 minutes again because I simply don't need to with how effective these bulbs are. I have pain starting in my spine around T1-T2 and then it branches out to the left into my left rhomboid and also wraps around my neck where I have other tumors that are swollen up. I'll give you an example of what happened this morning. I'm trying to taper off of Morphine but not able to do so as quick as I'd like because this morning I woke up in a lot of pain that I don't normally have, and I'm assuming it's because I dropped in dose of morphine. So anyway, I'm in a lot of pain and I go straight to my sauna at 6AM. I get in, meditate on Jesus and pray for Him to bless this treatment, and within 5 minutes I'm thanking Jesus for pain relief. I could feel a warm soothing sensation penetrating deep through my muscles and onto the tumors causing the pain. It's like I could feel the tumors relaxing and changing from screaming to humming (idk if that makes sense). Imagine (sound wise) going from banging on a desk to rubbing a desk. That's like what happened my neck/spine; it went from screaming to soothing. After 10 minutes I was just loving it; I really wish I could stay in there all day long because of how much pain relief I had. But of course, after 20 minutes I had to get out and shower, and now it's been 1.5 hours and I'm still having pain relief. Well, I took a morphine lol, but still I can feel the after effects of the sauna and the morphine doesn't cause this. So if anyone is battling cancer and needs pain relief, you have my recommendation (I'm a cancer patient in pain) for RubyLux.

Effectiveness Update - Still no lasting relief, but for almost a year now, this is the best solution so far.
I have been treating the chronic pain in my wife's back for the past week now, and so far the relief obtained has been minimal. After having given her a total of 10 treatments (about 20 minutes each), she tells me that she now gets about 20 minutes of relief after the light is turned off. Now this does not seem like much relief and, in truth, it is not. But, if by chance this 20 minutes of relief after the week one, grows to 40 minutes of relief, then it is possible that we might have a winner here. So for now, I am giving this product three stars.... if by chance over the next few weeks her relief becomes more prolific, then I will commensurately change my rating. Update 2-8-2017 This bulb is for sure a quality product. It produces a very steady heat which does bring soothing relief to all my wife's painfully chronic spots on her spine and in her neck. But so far, the relief is only temporary and the most relief she gets after a session is at most about 10 minutes. But we are still using the product religiously, every day, averaging about 40 minutes total per day. Now to be fair to this product, you should know that my wife's chronic pain condition is a perplexing issue of which no doctor has been able to satisfactorily address. We have seen surgeons, therapists, pain specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists and even acupuncturists. And to date no one has been able to prescribe a pill, an injection or a therapy that brings any relief whatsoever. The only thing that does anything is this RubyLux Bulb. And who knows, maybe if we continue to use this bulb, there will become a point in time where the enough damaged nerves may be healed so that my wife may experience some permanent relief. One additional note. I have used the bulb on myself for minors muscle injuries and foot pain and have, for myself, after short use, found the bulb to be an effective treatment. Update 9-25-2017 My wife's overall chronic pain condition has not improved. In fact, after seeing more doctors and specialists, it appears that my wife's chronic pain is due to multiple causes, including heavy metal toxins of which the medical profession, from what I can tell, is unprepared to address at the the current time. Since my last update, I have bought an additional RubyLux bulb and now focus two bulbs at a time at the problematic areas. When the bulbs are on they are the only thing that brings any relief to my wife's pain. But still nothing lasts. Next week my wife will begin some far infrared sauna treatments at a local spa. She will be doing that in conjunction with continuing her treatments of the RubyLux bulbs. Stay tuned. On a side note, for those who are curions to know if the these bulbs last, one bulb I have been using for almost a year and the other for about about six months. I use them both every day for about 40 minutes and so far, they are both still going strong, packing lots of heat and NIR infrared light.

Well, looks like I'll be buying these bulbs for the rest of my life.
This little magic light bulb has helped me with everything from acne and pimples, to back pain, to facial rejuvenation. These lights are intense so make sure you get some eye covers. Infrared and Near IR light penetrates up to 1 inch deep within your skin so it's great for muscle and joint soreness after workouts or long days at the office when your back hurts. ===== MUST HAVE ACCESSORIES ===== http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0061MZ4Q6 Buy this clamp lamp socket with it. This is a 250 watt bulb, so it's very powerful and gets extremely hot. Just hang it about 18 inches away from your skin and it'll feel like a nice warm light. ===== YES IT WORKS ===== Basically: This is the most healing wavelengths of the sun without the UV damage and wrinkles. It's much cheaper than the LED light therapy and much more powerful. Studies on infrared lights show they increase blood circulation by 400% within a few minutes and the effects last for hours. So your skin and everything the light touches heals much faster than normal. ===== HOW QUICK WILL I SEE / FEEL EFFECTS ===== The effects you FEEL are immediate after the 1st 15 minute session. The effects you SEE visually on your skin take time to show up, in less than 1 week you'll notice your face is less bony and has more substance. You'll look healthier and more well rested. About 2-4 weeks little fine lights will look like they're starting to vanish. After 4 months a huge difference in wrinkles and fine lines can be seen. Remember the light doesn't heal you, the light encourages your body to heal itself. Every cell in your body has receptors for light and certain wavelengths encourage healing much faster than others. ===== IS THIS INCANDESCENT BULB BETTER THAN THE LED VERSIONS?===== YES. I have this rubylux lamp AND a $200 LED light and this RubyLux light makes enormous pimples shrink overnight. People like the LED versions because they are smaller and aren't as hot so you have have their closer to your skin. But they're insanely expensive and people think "you get what you pay for" and end up buying the expensive $200+ LED red light pads. I'd sit under my LED pad for 45 minutes a day and still not get the same results as 15 minutes a day with this Ruby Lux bulb. This bulb wins the cake. ===== HOW LONG SHOULD TREATMENTS BE? ===== At least 15 minutes. But no more than 3x 15 minutes sessions a day. ===== CAN I USE THIS BEFORE BED TIME? ===== Yes! I personally use this light right before going to sleep. I mounted mine on a camera stand right over my bed. Red light doesn't wake the body up the way blue light from monitors and electronic devices does. So it's perfect for use literally right before bedtime. ===== MUSCLES and WORKOUTS ===== My back hurts from non-use and feels stiff if I sleep with my back facing down. After I started using this light on my back I've been able to get through each night sleeping on my back all the way through. 8 hours of non stop sleep is nice. Waking up in the same position I went to sleep in is an incredible feeling. Muscles heal faster after workouts. The 2nd and 3rd day burn is gone. The pain is substantially and noticeably less. Don't think that just because it's a light it can only help your skin. This light can reach 1 inch deep into tissues. Reaching muscles and joints. ===== COLLAGEN and FACIAL REJUVENATION ===== I use this every night and it plumps the face up nicely in the morning. My face looks consistently well rested and not bony. ===== SIDE EFFECTS (some sleepiness) ===== Red Light Therapy for decades has shown to NOT have any side effects. Just don't bake under it for hours. From the NASA studies to the clinical studies this has been a proven safe technology. The light increases blood circulation by 400% and your body heals itself very quickly. Sleepiness: You know that feeling when you're out in the sun for a while and it just drains the energy out of you? This happens (especially to folks like me who have low blood pressure) because heat and the sun increase the blood circulating in your skin in order to sweat and cool itself which makes people feel tired. Since this light increases blood circulation by 400% you can feel very drained after 5-10 minutes. So if you're looking for something to put you to sleep this is perfect. ===== IF THIS IS SO GREAT, WHY HASN'T IT CAUGHT ON IN THE MAINSTREAM? ===== They slowly are, health clubs and gyms have starting including these IR/NIR lamp beds in their tanning bed rooms. It hasn't caught on in popularity because it requires a consistent investment. And you know people are lazy. The average person doesn't want to take 15 minutes out of their day to exercise let alone sit under a lamp for 15 minutes every day with only their thoughts to themselves. Also the lamp is bulky and it needs space to be set up, so clear out your basement. ===== And no, I'm not a paid reviewer ===== (Bought this at full price on my own because I wanted something more powerful than my $200 red LED pad.)

Long-lasting bulb delivers results
My family loves this near infrared bulb. We set up a therapy cot in our sunroom in the Winter of '23 to aid with SAD and red light therapy healing. Multiple people use it everyday for a minimum of 10 minutes at a time. Today (Aug.27, 2025) was the first time I had to replace the Rubylux bulb. I'm impressed. It is indeed a great aid for our muscle pulls and soreness due to heavy lifting and BJJ, works very well on small wound healing, and combats the dreaded 11s. A great product.

Fantastic! Works Amazing on Pain & Knocks Expensive Competition Out of the Water!!
I just received my RubyLux Infrared Bulb a few days ago, so I can't say much about the long-term health benefits yet....but this light is perfect for targeting certain areas of the body and easily using several times daily without any irritation, "hot spots", or issues. The bulb itself glows an orangey-red and definitely produces heat/warmth. Even when treating my face within 1 foot of the bulb....I get no issues with burning by allowing the light to sit for 30 seconds or so as I rotate my face and head to treat it from all angles. I keep face/head treatment to about 10 minutes per session (starting at) 2 times per day. For my back (my area of severe pain and damage), it's a bit more difficult because it's hard to get the light to cover my entire back (I have multiple problems with upper AND lower back) with just laying under it, so I do spend a longer amount of time (skin is thicker here than the face) and then move my body position to get the other areas targeted. I spend about 20 minutes on each part of my spine (one hour total) and try to do it at least 1 to 2 times daily if I can manage the time. I have literally tried EVERYTHING else for my back pain and basically am a 36 year old woman who spent her 20's as a very active CNC Programmer and Machinist (this means I was heavy-lifting and running around about 70 hours per week since age 23 up until about 3 years ago)....so it's killing me that I literally can't do anything but light chores. I have to sit on a cocchyix pillow plus a heating pad anytime I'm sitting ....at all. I can no longer do my trade despite finally being experienced enough for high-paying, supervisory/forewoman positions. I've tried exercise balls, back blocks, stretches, decompression exercises, acupressure mats (bed of nails at-home), and Gabapentin/Neurontin. This is my last ditch before trying actual back surgery at some point. While I cannot say whether this will help my back long-term, I CAN say that even for the most painful points in my back....this greatly reduces my pain more than any of the *above* mentioned methods merely laying under the light bulb. Some may say "well sure, it's heat"....but no. I use a heating pad on "high" anytime I'm sitting down and it does NOT relieve my pain temporarily and certainly not for hours afterward. This bulb and the infrared waves DO. The heat is a nice and soothing bonus, but that's clearly not what is making the difference. And I can't wait to see the results after a few months of *trying* to squeeze in 60 minutes 2x times per day. As for the bulb itself, it's high quality and large. The coverage area and brightness from just one bulb is pretty large. The warmth feels just like laying in the sun on a hot/bright day....but with no humidity or "burn" from UV. On thinner areas of the body (like my face) you can FEEL the skin tightening and tingling from the increased blood flow which is great because that means collagen stimulation is happening quickly. I also notice that I feel more relaxed and my mood improves from the light and warmth that we don't get here in the Northeast for most of Fall, Winter, and Early Spring. I took the advice of the users and purchased a brooder light w/ clamp to use this and admittedly....it's NOT convenient around my apartment since I don't have a "dedicated room/space" where I can clip the light and then just use it. I have to basically clamp it to dresser and desk drawers right in my living room or bedroom and adjust the brooder light to an angle that works. It's not the easiest set up if you don't have space. Plus the ugly, metal "chicken light" look of the brooder. HOWEVER. I really, really recommend that for safety you do NOT just use whatever lamp you have laying around and despite my woes about the lack of convenience and ugly/large metal brooder base....safety is most important and especially if you have kids or pets who may brush past or knock it down. I can attest to this because the very first time I set it up, I attached the clamp to a kitchen chair and then planned to sit in a chair across from it to access my back....and wouldn't you know it, my nosy cat jumped right up and when I shooed him away, he accidentally bumped the brooder hard enough that the light and base popped right off the chair, hit the floor, and rolled away! I was pissed that the brooder light actually DENTED from hitting a carpet, but since the light was plugged in AND hot....I realized how relieved I was that the bulb didn't burst because of the safety cage as well as the area surrounding the lamp and that my carpet, cat, and self didn't get burned or catch anything on fire BECAUSE of using the ugly brooder light. So I heavily recommend that you suck it up and buy the brooder base with the ceramic that is intended for a bulb this high in wattage to protect yourself, your pets, AND avoid replacing a $21.00 light bulb every time someone bumps it. The brooder light is easy to clamp, but a pain to adjust (comes loose and flops around and needs constant tightening if you're changing the angle a lot), but the safety of the ceramic socket as well as the metal guards and reflector are well worth both the cost and the annoyance especially if you're in an apartment, have limited space, or have kids/pets that may get curious about the light. I just leave it sit for 15 minutes after use and then if I'm done using it for the day, I have some old bubble wrap in a bag in my hall closet that I stuff the whole set up into until I'm ready to use it again.I recommend something like this if you aren't going to build a permanent set up and/or will be moving it around a lot. Despite the bulb being "delicate" because of not having Teflon (which is a good thing for your health)....this DID hit the floor and roll around while plugged in and hot and did NOT shatter. So if you're careful, this is well worth the extra trouble of a $36.00 set up....rather than buying the "home LED systems" that are hundreds of dollars. The light WORKS. And the Infrared is excellent for all-around issues and especially deep-tissue issues whether it's pain, facial sagging, or seasonal depression. I commend Rubylux for coming up with a cost-efficient, safe option so that anyone and everyone can afford this therapy without the costly Salon/Sauna visits and without expensive Home LED kits. I feel like I wasted NOTHING *unlike many other methods for my back that cost a lot of money* even if this method doesn't improve my back pain long term. I'd love to see these available in small bulk packages of 2 or even 4 for a slightly discounted price at some point...because I really don't want to run out of these!! Excellent product and SO much better than paying for the competition's overpriced nonsense. I won't be looking elsewhere or trying other brands. I will stick to what works and what's affordable! I highly recommend this bulb. *By my photo posted you can see that I just clamp this wherever such as the dresser drawer that I pulled out for this picture. You can also see the general configuration of the Brooder Lamp housing and clamp*

They used to be nice...
These used to be really nice!...Now I'm not so sure the top bulb is new and the nice quality dark read glass is the old style. Seems like the quality went way down.
