Aircast Air-Stirrup Universe

I wish the podiatrist had given me this after I injured my ankle. This is a very good product. It made the pain go away immediately.Sizing is everything. I ordered a Medium because I have large calves. But, I'm also short - 5'4".So the medium is too tall for me. The indentation for the ankle bone is too high no matter how much I shortened the stirrup so it caused the ankle bone - Medial Malleolus - to hurt within an hour.A lucky mistake made all the difference. They had sent me the wrong size in the beginning and I had started the return but fortunately had not sent it back yet. They sent me a pediatric extra small. Just out of interest, I adjusted the stirrup to the longest setting and tried on the extra small pediatric. The strap just barely fit my large calf. It fit perfectly over the Medial Malleolus and, although short, it seems to give the same support as the taller one.Pain free. All I have to do is remember that my ankle, while pain free, still needs to heal so I need to rest it and not over do walking yet.

Ortho recommended this stirrup brace for the 2nd stage of my ankle break recovery. It is comfortable, and delivers restricted side to side movement to aid in healing process. No problem fitting in shoe, just had to open the laces a bit. Comfortable to wear with minor strap adjustment. I recommend this product. Side note---Dr. Office was going to charge $200 in office for this brace, or I could get online for about $30. Same one!

I'm glad I bought this as my doctor gave me nothing to support my ankle after I broke it. Yes I had a boot to wear out on the rare occasion I went out, but I needed something around the house. This brace works well. My biggest problem is getting it on. The velcro straps are so strong that they are hard to tear apart. The two straps keep getting entangled while I'm attempting to get the sides up and situated. When removing the brace, the straps are hard to pull apart with the industrial strength velcro on them. Plus it is difficult to find the end of each strap to begin pulling off. I have put a super high grade tape close to the end to help my fingers feel the tape and know the end is. But it only sticks for a month or so then I have to start over. It would be nice if the manufacturer put something on the end. If the brace doesn't slip from where I put it on to begin with, it's fairly comfortable, but not infrequently the heel part moves and changes the brace position. I would recommend this to only those people who have strength in their hands to pull the velcro apart and who have the dexterity to put the brace on to begin with.

I have a grade two sprain to my ankle and use this every day. The support is exactly what I need, and I've noticed the positive impact this cast has had on my recovery. However, the strap that goes on the bottom of the foot which connects the two sides of the cast is threadbare. I am disappointed as it has not even been a month, and it's not like this cast was inexpensive. This would be a home run if the bottom strap was stronger or made of more durable material.

This was very helpful with healing after I broke my ankle and quit wearing the boot two weeks later.

The air cushion is not adjustable like others (with a straw). If you have more pronounced ankles this brace will be uncomfortable.

Doctor recommended this. Holds up pretty well.

My son plays football and basketball. He has severely rolled his ankles a couple times so he started wearing these braces. He has tried many other braces and tried taping but these are his favorite. They are comfortable but offer solid support. No rolled ankles at all this season.

Absolute life saver. I badly sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago. After an X-ray I was told it was severe, but that there was nothing they could do. After a bit of research I found this. It has sped my recovery incredibly. The padding gently pushes swelling away from the injury and the rigid plastic locks the ankle in place. The combination massively reduces the pain and I was able to go about my business (if a little slowly). It takes a bit of adjusting the straps, but once you get them right, you'll know it - it's very comfortable. I was also able to wear certain shoes while wearing it. I like it so much I went ahead and got the A60 brace to support the ankle now the injury has recovered a bit.
