Pros:-Higher speeds (20up/20down on my schools network over my stock WiFi card from 5-6 years ago)-Ridiculously easy installationCons:-Signal strength (or range) doesn't seem to have improved over stock-USB stick part of the device gets warm, not sure how this will affect long term lifeGenerally I would never spend $45 on tech like this, but it was actually worth it. My desktop PC has an Asus ITX motherboard, and the onboard WiFi card just wasn't picking up enough signal at my college.Now that I have this installed, I am seeing improvements of +20 mb/s download and +20 mb/s upload improvements over the stock WiFi card. I ran three speedtests and took averages with the stock WiFi card, then the same tests using this card. I was shocked to see the speeds I was missing out on. If you have a more modern machine from perhaps 2-3 years ago, you may not see that level of improvement, but this device certainly does have better range, especially with the USB stand and antennae. Like I said, the device can get warm. Being a China made device, we will see how long it will last.

Really impressed with speed and plug and play surprised me. Windows 10 recognized as a RTL8814AU chip inside and auto installed drivers. It comes with a CD with drivers if necessary. Speed Test blew away my other Wifi card, my internet plan has 250Mbit Down 10Up and the speed test from Xfinity.com showed 278Mbit down and 10MbitUp compared to my old card which did 80Mbits D/L tops . Very happy so far.

I bought this for a desktop computer that doesn't have a wireless card in it. The works out really well for me, it is easy to setup and I also gets really good signal form my wifi. RECOMMENDED!

This is definitely one of your top choices if you're looking for a gaming setup.It supports 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ. I live in an apartment and the 2.4 ghz channel is so jammed. With my old adapter, which supports 2.4 ghz only, my internet would suddenly get disconnected or get super slow due to the inference from my neighboor's router. However, with this one, now I use 5hgz only. No interruptions nothing. I can play gamings with a peace of mind.It has an extension cord, which is very thoughtful. The adapter itself is kinda big, so it won't really fit in the back of my computer. They provided an extension cord and a stand, now I can put the adapter on top of the computer or at a location where wifi signal is better received.Happy with my purchase : )

In the past I've tried one or two USB 3.0 adaptors and they had issues when running on 5Ghz networks. I just happened to be looking at wireless adaptors and saw this model. I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try because I have nothing to lose with Amazon's great return policy.I just installed the driver and plugged in the adaptor to a direct connect USB 3.0 port (don't use a hub). I connected to my 5Ghz network and ran Speedtest. I get the same throughput (computer upstairs, AP downstairs) as my wired connection downstairs - about 85Mb/s. So far I'm extremely pleased! On my previous 2.4Ghz USB 2.0 adaptor, I would max out at about 30-35Mb/s. Hopefully things stay like this.

Got it for my PC because I wanted to change my office space. This works great plug it in, enter your router password and your set to go.

Nice and convenient

Received this today. It worked for about 3 hours plugged into my USB 3.0 port, all the sudden I lost connection and checked the adapter and it was very hot and I could not get it to show as a device connected to my system. Connected it to a normal USB 2.0 port and seems to be working. Wish it wasn't advertised that it was compatible with USB 3.0 for higher speeds. It is currently no better than what I had and it takes up more room. And then as I am typing this, I lose signal again. Will be returning for a refund and finding something better.
