Simple, Foolproof Knife Sharpener That Just Works (Great Value for the Price)
5.0 out of 5 stars — Simple, Effective, and Hard to Beat for the Price I picked up the Work Sharp Portable Pivot Knife Sharpener not expecting much, but it honestly punches way above its weight. If you’re looking for something quick, compact, and easy to use, this gets the job done without any fuss. The guided angles make it pretty much foolproof—no guesswork, no learning curve. A few passes and you’re back to a clean, usable edge. It’s not trying to be a high end precision system, but that’s kind of the point. It’s fast, consistent, and works exactly how you want a portable sharpener to work. Build quality is solid for the price, and the size makes it easy to toss in a drawer, toolbox, or even take camping. I’ve used it on kitchen knives and a couple of beat up utility blades, and it brought them back to life with minimal effort. If you’re expecting mirror-polished edges, look elsewhere. But if you want a reliable, no-nonsense sharpener that actually works and doesn’t cost much, this is a no-brainer. For the price, it’s an easy 5 stars.

Pretty decent emergency sharpener for pocketknife-sized knives.
I bought this to sharpen my serrated kitchen knives and, in this area, it is very useful. The tapered shape of the rod makes it very easy. I've only limited use with the pull through convex carbide feature with a pocketknife that needed some sharpening. It worked really well but probably could get a little sharper with some touching up on a strop. If you're out camping it would make great emergency accessory. Personally, I carry the Work Sharp guided field sharpener for this purpose, but for the price of this item it is definitely worth it. I don't think kitchen knives, especially from Japan, should be sharpened with this device since the sharpening angle is set at 25 degrees.

Amazing price; but different steel, different results
This sharpener is fantastic when it comes to sharpening high carbon blades. I have a Japanese santoku kitchen knife that badly needed sharpening, and this little sharpener got it back to razor level in very few passes. However, when I started trying to use it on other steels with my everyday carry knife and others, I got varied results. 440 Stainless was right in the middle of difficulty to get sharp. And right behind that, softer steels like 420 (or 420J2, 420HC) took many passes and a lot of time get a good edge to take and hold. I don't mind putting in the extra work to get my blades back up to code, but I was surprised as to how different each steel type reacted to the carbide. This is my first time using a carbide sharpener, so I don't know if this is normal or not. Either way, it does the job very well as long as you're willing to put in the extra effort on the softer steels. This could be a 5 star sharpener, but the only reason I have to knock a star off is because of the placement of the red carbide adjuster switch on the top. Because of it's location, the rubber grip that is glued around it is very thin because it takes up most of the space, and when using the honing side, the one side isn't as grippy. The overall design of this sharpener is great though, but I don't understand why they didn't choose to put the selector switch on the front face of the body. On a side note, the packaging is very well done. Whoever they have doing the marketing did a great job. It's super tough, and I had a good laugh trying to use my very dull every day carry to open it. I could barely get through the plastic bubble to get to the sharpener, the very thing I needed to get it sharp in the first place. I don't say this negatively. It was just the irony of it and was pretty funny. Overall, this is a fine sharpener for most needs at a fantastic price point.

Excellent bang for the buck!
I must admit that I was very skeptical about this sharpener before trying it. The price point along with the method it used to sharpen had me curious as to the quality of the edge that it would produce. Since opening the package I have been able to put the sharpener through a gauntlet of tasks. The first task was to sharpen six Old Hickory paring knives which we use as steak knives. My initial reply was”Wow”. I was very impressed with the speed, ease and quality of the edge. Yes the knives are carbon steel and sharpen relatively easily, however the pivot pro really made quick work of the bunch. With no more than right passes on the carbide cutter and three on the ceramic the knives were extremely sharp. This is a huge plus being that they full so quickly cutting on dinner plates. The next task I completed was to sharpen all of our knives at the Firehouse. At first I was only going to do several and at the end I sharpened all of them mainly because it was so quick and easy. So , who is this sharpener for? I would say everyone. I am a knife collector and there are definitely some knives that I will only sharpen a certain way by a certain means. I have traditionally used the Work Sharp Ken Onion edition with the blade grinding attachment and that system works beyond great. The only drawback is it is normally a small event setting it up and working through the different grits. The pivot pro is down and dirty and gets it done with little fuss. The sharpener is perfect for the kitchen drawer, the shop, the truck or where ever you need a quick razor edge and a convex edge at that.

Perfect Pocket Sharpener
I would have to say thst after this arriving & watching the quick video of proper way to use it. It is amazing. Hands down. Best pocket sharpener i have ever owned in my life. And I've had many. The course stone adjustments from unstable to firm to get burs off then sharpen are great. Then to the ceramic to hone blade. Running it through 5 times each is perfect. You get a well precision sharp blade every time! Gonna by another for travel. Maybe some more for gifts.
