ProTorch Micro Butane Torch: Soldering Plumbing Jewelry Culinary. Tough Self-ignition 1yr Guarantee!

5 stars. I make survival bracelets, leashes and such and the torch I was using was a real pain in the rear. You had the safety switch to hold and then click it a hundred times. You were always going to have it blow out the flame because of a pressure issue. Not with this one. Turn on the gas, click ab wooosh! I'm still trying to retrain my brain that I don't have to hold down any buttons for it to continue. This works like a torch should. The base seems to be ill fitted to securely stay attached to the torch, but my other one didn't have a base either- so, I threw it in my rope box. I like the fact that you can really fine tune the flame. No more charred rope ends!Honestly, it does what it is supposed to do. It's not for little children, so keep it put up and out of their reach. When my grandkids are here, I put my tools up and out of reach and I play with my kids. When they leave, I pull my cords back out and tie my knots. Simple, don't be a Jug-headBrings me peace to do what I do, and this has taken a lot of stress off of me!

Works great! Exceptionally powerful flame, easy reach thumb rotation valve of which the practical location assures constant safe control, desired flame strength and height; the body is designed with a raised scaly surface assuring non slip gripping; craftsmanship aside~ notable feature is the 2yr replacement guarantee, however in the packaging there's no written description regarding the 2yr deal therefore it's implied that the purchaser rely on faith and trust .... although am optimistic I possess a quality product that will surely endure. ~ NOTE: It's impractical to use low grade butane with high a quality Torch simply because poor quality butane contains impurities that will shorten the life of the ProTorch or that of any device, therefore always utilize "Premium" high quality Butane! Imagine a new high performance engine using low grade gasoline, it's impractical, at some point the low grade gas impurities will potentially harm/ damage any high performance equipment. Treat any equipment with expert care and it will generally provide a reliable long life of practical use.

I've had this torch for over 6 months and have had no issues with it until recently, though it may have been my fault for over tightening the open and close valve. I noticed after a while that the gas was leaking from open and close valve when I had a tiny steady ember at the torch tip. I then decided to open up the valve with a screwdriver ( it just uses a philips in the middle to come off) then I used some pliers to unscrew the valve all the way. Inside it has a little tube with a tiny rubber gasket. I noticed I had managed to nick the gasket, probably by over tightening. I was able to find another little piece of rubber I had to replace it and now it works great again. It's easy to dissemble for repair if you do over tighten it, but my advice is to be gentile with it from the beginning. The back ignition button also screws off but you can just finger tighten that on if it ever comes loose. The base is also removable, but it does have a hole on base so you can add more butane to it without removing the base, which is quite handy. It has two options on the top: you can either use it as a torch, or it has a gradual phase to a regular flame that you can adjust by rotating. This piece is very versatile and is definitely the best bang for your buck.

If I could give this torch a rating of zero stars, I certainly would. I DO NOT recommend this torch, categorically and hands-down. It's a huge disaster, simply waiting to happen.I bought the torch with the intention of lighting charcoal for incense at church services. It worked well for about four weeks, and then the valve would not work. It was either no flow, or full flow. At one instance of full flow, the top of the torch burst into flame. Fortunately that disaster lasted less than a second.This evening, however, I tried the torch again, at home. Again, the top of the torch burst into flame. It continued to burn around the top, and I managed to stamp out the flames around where I dropped it on the carpet. Raw fuel continued to spew from the head of the torch. I picked it up and dropped it in the toilet to flood it, but it continued to leak and bubble. In the end, we tossed it out in the driveway.I don't know what is responsible for this debacle, but I can tell you, I WILL NOT REPEAT THIS WITH ANOTHER TORCH FROM THE SAME COMPANY. Any questions?Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS TORCH.

I've had this torch for almost 6 months now. Pretty much from the start it would continue to leak gas even when turned all the way off. Some of the time it would stop leaking if I turned it all the way on then back all the way off. Most of the time I wouldn't notice it was leaking (even after tightly closing the valve) and the next time I went to use the torch it would be empty. Finally, last week I could not get the torch to turn off at all. It is leaking enough gas to sustain a significant flame.I really wanted to like this torch because the thing feels solid in your hand and it's easy to operate with one hand. I'm disappointed that I'll have to continue my search for a reliable torch.UPDATESo within an hour, of posting this review Gus, the Customer Service manager, contacted me to arrange to have a new unit sent to me immediately. I upgraded my rating to 3 stars based on this and the fact that this really is a solid torch. It could have easily been 5 stars without the quality of production issues.

After using this torch for the past few months, I had to write a review especially after reading the sellers description. This torch is now in the trash. When I got the torch, it was great! Looked cool, felt sturdy, worked great. Then I used it. I don't make jewelry for a living or anything so it's not like I used it excessively. At this point, the torch won't ignite with butane in the tank. I have to take a lighter and light it and then the flame is very weak and unusable. It also leaks. All the butane come out after filling it up. I've wasted a lot of money on this product since it wasn't on sale when I bought it for $33.
