I measured my head size as 56.0 cm, so I think this helmet is slightly bigger than my head (range is 57-60. Should I be looking for a smaller helmet?

They are foam padding strips that help the helmet fit securely on your head. I don't think you need to look for a different size.

Yes if u don't have it sit to high on ur head

No it's a very basic helmet. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone but the occasional casual rider. The helmet doesn't have much padding and there is no dialAdjustment. I believe it adjusts with the webbing.
