LOW COST DAYLIGHT, BRIGHT WHITE also helps with SAD
Never thought I would be writing a review for light bulbs. But because of all the irrelevant, uninformed and nit picky negatives I am writing this one. Shipment came boxed and wrapped in double layer bubble wrap with no broken bulbs. All worked. Daylight CFL bulbs are normally very expensive compared to standard warm white or white CFL's. These 4 bulbs are a bargain delivered for $11 plus no sales tax. Most of you know that already. These are 5000K on the color spectrum which better reproduces daylight than the standard white at 6500K. These bulbs start-up the same as other CFL's in that it takes a few minutes to get to full brightness. Much more light than than standard warm white (2700K) Basics of CFL colors: 2700K is warm white, 3200-3500 is white. 5000K (this bulb) is the closest to daylight color, so it's bright natural white. 6500K is (bluish) white but higher on the visible light spectrum and not as good as the 5000K (daylight). Bulb life: I have been using CFL's for about 8 years now. I've used many brands from cheap to moderately expensive. All brands I've used have about a 10-20% failure rate after a month or 2. None last their rated life. Bulbs fail earlier when they are frequently turned on and off. These daylight bulbs can help with SAD (seasonal affect disorder) where the shorter days of winter and cloudy weather cause mild to moderate depression for many people. SAD (seasonal affect disorder) My first use of these bulbs is in the bathroom. I have a light fixture that takes 4 of these. WOW!! What a difference these make over the warm white bulbs. You can really can see yourself and skin color etc as you would look in natural daylight. The 4 bulbs (240W equivalent) will also help my SAD on workdays I have no time to sit in front of my SAD lamp. The wattage in my bathroom (240W) is high enough where I get a good dose of natural light every morning. I will buy this brand again if the price continues to be competitive and they are still available. Sold by: DEALS AND MORE Fulfilled by Amazon Update: I've been using these bulbs in my bathroom for almost 2 years. Still working great.

Let There Be Light - 'daylight' indoors!
I think that we all have specific likes and dislikes, and that carries into the light bulbs that we choose for our homes. Some folks may prefer the warmer, yellow tones that traditional light bulbs provide, but my preference is to have a clear, bright light. I like to trick myself into believing that I am enjoying a bright, sunny day during the depths of the wet, grey winters that are the norm for where I live. When GE came out with their "Reveal" bulbs I was pretty excited, and soon had replaced all of the yellow light bulbs in the house. I had not found the perfect light bulb until I tried this most recent light bulb iteration, the 'daylight' ,5000k bulbs. I was finding that I could not see well in my bathroom and decided that I needed to try daylight bulbs in there. I needed 7 bulbs and ordered two packages of these Ecosmart bulbs to try. I have tried other brands of 'daylight' bulbs in the past and find them very pleasing, but the light that this brand provides seems to be a bit realistic and bright to me. Voila! I really could not believe that a simple light bulb could make such a difference. These bulbs tout that they provide true 5000k lighting, and they do! Truth in advertising. Amazing. What I was the most surprised at was that I replaced my old 60 watt bulbs with these and, aside from having a wonderful , true,'daylight' effect, the intensity of the new bulbs is amazing. It seems that I get much more light from these 60 watt equivalent bulbs than with any other that I have tried. Obviously, I cannot comment on longevity yet. I have not found that other brands last as long as they are 'supposed' to. Even if these don't last as long as they might I am so happy with the clarity of the light that I would buy them again. Simple pleasure for a simple mind. These are very effective and, if you prefer a daylight effect indoors then these are the bulbs for you to try.

Daylight White CFL Bulbs
This is a four-pack of 14-watt (60-watt equivalent) CFL bulbs. The color is "daylight," which means it's very white compared with regular light bulbs. I recently bought a three-way CFL for my sewing room, thinking to save myself from having to switch burned-out bulbs all the time. I didn't realize it was "daylight," or what a stark difference it would make! Half my room was suddenly brighter and whiter, as if I'd grown a window in the corner of the room. Compared to normal light bulbs, it was like . . . well, night and day. As soon as possible, I ordered these 60-watt equivalent CFLs to place in the table lamps around the rest of the room. Now the whole sewing room is bright and airy, and I can rest assured that the colors of my fabrics are much more accurate when I photograph them. Just as a side note, don't be confused by the wattage equivalent. If your lamp is 40-watt, that does NOT mean you can only buy 40-watt equivalent CFLs. Wattage is wattage, so ignore the "equivalent" part and buy whatever kind gives the light output you need, so long as the total wattage is equal or less than your lamp's maximum. For example, my table lamps are 40-watt maximum. These CFLs are 60-watt equivalents, but they work just fine because they are actually 14-watts, much less than my lamps' maximum wattage. They are a bit brighter than the 40-watt equivalents, but that suits me fine. I actually needed more light in my sewing room, so I'm thrilled. Five stars, because they are bright and white, exactly what I was hoping for. Better yet, they'll save you money in the long run, because they don't use as much electricity and don't have to be replaced as often.

Cheap, effective, not exactly white, but close enough for me.
I switched most of my house lighting to Philips LED 5000k daylight bulbs of various types, but they all get very hot and thus can't be used in enclosed fixtures. For enclosed fixtures I decided to use these things, which still do get hot, but due to the low wattage CFL nature of the bulb, not dangerously so. They're not bright enough when you first turn them on but they warm up to acceptable brightness levels in around 30-45 seconds. The light is a bit cool and isn't quite pure white, but it's white enough, and in my opinion is a bit whiter than the Philips 5000k LEDs. As always remember that cold lighting is harsh and impersonal. If you want friendly, gentle lighting, don't buy cold, white, 5000k+ lights and then complain when your bedroom lights up like a holodeck. If you want your room to look like a science lab, office, or space station, then give cold lighting a try.

Great product at a great price
Great product at a great price. I am about to order more. They really do give off a very clear white light as opposed to the horribly yellow glow of most ordinary bulbs. Originally I bought these because I was unhappy with the quality of light in the front room, which does not have full access to external light and the murkiness of the light was making me feel miserable and claustrophobic. Since using these bulbs, this room is so much more comfortable and cheerful to be in. Being low energy lights means I can happily turn on my 5-bulb floor lamp which is covered in a white paper shade and have wonderful white bright yet not glaring light. Additionally, I was suffering from terrible eye strain when using my PC in another room and thought I needed reading classes, until I replaced the bulbs with these and the eye strain problem disappeared completely! This was a totally unexpected bonus. Buying daylight low energy bulbs in the shops costs MUCH more than from Amazon. I'm about to order more for other rooms.

Don't listen to the other reviews, know what you are buying...
These are 60 watt equv. daylight bulbs! people who wrote bad reviews because they were too bright or too blue or not warm should have known what they were buying! I have been using CFL bulbs for about 3-4 years now and these are some of the better ones I used. I put all 4 of them in our bathroom and they are pretty much instant on, which is a first for me with CFL, the soft/warm ones I have used in the past took a while to brighten up, these give you instant light and still get brighter a minute later. These are meant to be WHITE, not yellow lights, they are meant to simulate daylight and do a good job, great for closets and bathrooms, maybe kitchens, but not really meant for living rooms, dining rooms or places you prefer softer yellow light. You can love and hate these because in a bathroom it will show you a true picture of how you look! Ever put on clothes or makeup in a warm lighted bathroom, then go outside on a sunny day and you look different than you thought, thats because the warm lighting gives you a false sense of how you and colors look compared to daylight, these give you a better idea of what things will look like in "daylight". They do seem brighter than 60 watt warm/soft yellow lights because of it being a white/blue light. Blue makes things appear brighter to our eyes, so even though its still 60 watts of energy (or 14w in this case) a white/blue light will appear brighter to us than a yellow light.

So far, so good (even great) ...
i purchased these bulbs on 12/23/14 and so far they are working out great in my kitchen. it's so nice to be able to see everything so clearly. since I read that turning cfl bulbs on and off too often can shorten their life, since installation, I've left my kitchen light on 24/7 to see what the outcome will be regarding lifespan. seems to me these bulbs are doing a great job, since they've been turned on nonstop from 12/26/14 to 03/22/15 (today)!! that's 3 months nonstop lighting and still going strong. if they make it another 3 months, i'll be happy and won't mind replacing my kitchen lighting twice yearly. if they make it for a whole year of 24/7 usage, i'll be even more happy! i think it's ridiculous for the manufacturer to give such a long life span to these bulbs by using around 3 hours per day as normal usage. just a guess, but it seems that the stress of turning these bulbs on and off too often is what shortens their life, and I'm in and out of the kitchen all day long (and sometimes into the night), so it only makes sense to just leave it on (even avoids the warm-up time). let me just say that I don't like these cfl bulbs in the first place and am still using regular incandescent bulbs in most of my lamps. with these cfl's, there seem to be too many choices in color temperature, etcetera, and too many choices make it difficult to find the right bulbs. also, the manufacturers aren't always clear with their packaging as to exactly what they are selling. and I really don't like the learning curve on nearly everything we need to buy nowadays. :(

Only 1 not shattered
This is a pretty expensive light bulb seeing that all but one were busted (and might I add unsafe to open up to get that one good light bulb out of the packaging). I'm lazy, which is why I ordered the cheesecake, i mean lightbulbs, online. Because of this I'm even more lazy to try to return the package. I know this is stupidity on my part, but hey. But on the bright side, the light bulb that does work is great -- nice and small, with 14 watts output and a nice clean white light to it. I just wish I had 4 of them right now :-( For the one, I would provide 5 stars. I'll update this if it blows out on me anytime in the near future. P.S. This one light is still going strong (October 2014)
