Worked for my old M-0622
I searched high and low for the S-3440 or the 3340 gasket that everyone claims you need on a M-0622 pre 1983 ( Dec 1974 to be exact ) Mirro pressure cooker / canner. After checking who knows how many sites, no one had it in stock, had months of backorders, or the website had absolutely horrid reviews, so I figured I would try this one. I received the gasket and did as the instructions said and soaked in hot water. No black residue that they claimed might happen, very little swelling, and it fit right into the lid of the pressure canner. It was a little thinner than the old one, but I'm pretty sure the old one was the original from 1974 ( I bought it at an estate sale ) and who knows the dimensions of it when it was new. I had drilled and tapped the lid to install a pressure gauge of the canner lid so I could watch the pressure as the canner works a few months before and was great in determining if it was holding or not. I broought it to a full rolling boil, oiled the gasket lightly, oiled the rim lightly, and installed the lid. While there was a little give when I pushed down on the lid ( I'm assuming because the new isn't as thick as the old ), the pressure immediately started rising. After a few minutes you could still press it down but it took quite a bit of force. I used the canner three times and had no leaks or issues either time and the stove was set at the same temp I had been using before the new gasket. For those of you in the same boat I was in, give this one a shot to see if it works for you. I was extremely hesitant but it works well for me and I'm glad I finally bought it. BTW, on my canner, the gauge jiggles at 11 PSI.**Update**Going into the second canning season for this gasket. I have used my canner approximately 40 times since I bought this in December of 2014. I still have the occasional leak, but I stop, remove the lid, put it back together and start again and this has solved the issue every time.

Seemed too big, but actually was perfect
I suspect that Amazon is mashing a bunch of our reviews for slightly different products into one list of reviews, so take this with a grain of salt- you may be looking at gasket XYZ, and I intended it to be written for gasket 123. But, I bought the Mirro 9882 gasket to go with a 1983ish Mirro Pressure Cooker, style M-0622. When it arrived, I was concerned because it seemed to be too big to fit properly by about an inch. I was mad. I had followed instructions exactly, and it seemed way too big to work. But, the packaging all swore it was the right thing, and I had some time to kill so I did a pressure trial. It did leak in the beginning stages and seemed to take a long time to get to pressure, but it eventually totally stopped leaking and did get up to the 15 lbs pressure I was aiming for. I let it depressurize normally. When I took the lid off, I was shocked and amazing to find that now the gasket fit perfectly. It works great and comes up to pressure much more quickly than it did the first time.I'm sad I didn't take a picture of the gasket before I did the test, but I did take one after, which I'm attaching.

Mirro S-9882 Cooker/Canner Gasket
I purchased this on recommendation from another review. I have a Mirro-Matic 16, model 0406 16 quart canner/cooker. On receipt of the item I noticed it was not as "hefty" as the original that came with the cooker, but proceeded with the cleaning to give it a test.Everything went fine, followed the instructions in the original book that came with the unit, which by the way was purchased at an estate auction. I pressure tested it with only water on the 15# setting for 15 minutes. The gasket preformed perfectly. As for the delivery, it was here on time but the trail it took I cannot say was efficient at all. I will not go into detail but it went to 4 different states before arriving here, when I live in the state next to the one it originated in. Actually I live only 130 miles, but enough of that.As for duration of service of the product only time will tell.

unusable for me
The gasket (item 12-22QTPress Cook Gasket) purchased from Amazon arrived timely but, it was too big in diameter and too thin. I followed the directions to soak it in hot water for 15 minutes. Then I dried it and put a thin coat of cooking oil on it as instructed. When I put the gasket in the pressure cooker lid it buckled badly but, I spread the buckles around as uniformly as I could. When I put the lid on the cooker it fit loose, as the gasket appeared to be too thin. Upon heating, the gasket leaked, so I opened the cooker, dried the gasket and contact surfaces and tried again three times with the same unsatisfactory result. This gasket is worthless to me.

Just what the Doctor ordered.
Yes folks, this gasket does fit a Mirro model #0406 16 quart canner/cooker. The gasket fit the lid of my pressure cooker almost perfectly. I say almost because when I first placed it inside the lid there was what seemed to be a definite excess of gasket material that I thought would likely cause problems. However when the cooker built up pressure for testing (15 lbs) it held that pressure for 30 minutes with no leaks as the excess material was forced out around, and against the canner, and lid.I gave it 4 stars because I've no idea how many years, or uses I may, or may not get out of it. However I suspect that it will last as long the canner itself. If so then I perhaps should have given it 5 stars huh. But if not, then what? 3-2-1? Only use, and time will tell.

Very pleased!
Replaced the old seal on the canner with this new seal and WOW, what a difference it made. It takes about a quarter of the time that it used to take for the weight to start rocking. Others have stated this ring was too large, so I was skeptical but ordered it anyway. When I received it, yes it did look almost too large to fit properly, but I tried, then I went and used it. So glad I did, because I was shocked at how fast it started to rock. AND, we have very little water lost in the canner after processing 7 quarts. Previously there were times the canner would be about dry with near zero water.
