Beware
After a year, I went to replace the bulb because I could see that it had burned out. When I removed the bulb I could see why it burned out. The housing had gotten hot and melted. Who knows if this would of caught fire and done serious damage. When I try to go to the website stamped on the mounting and installation sticker, the site is not found. Unsure how to reach the manufacturer or seller now that over a year has past since I purchased it from Amazon.

which cut through the metal siding like butter. So far
I have installed 3 of these units and just ordered another one. During the past year, I have been dealing with mold issues throughout my house which stemmed from several leaks, one sudden and several from improperly installed J-Channels for vinyl siding.... missing flashing to push water into my gutters and a leaking chimney cap, all of which resulted in my houses studs and especially OSB getting soaked and mold infested. Unfortunately, I later discovered several hundred square feet of molded OSB in my chimney (builders never wrapped theOSB with Tyvek or other water barrier material)/(see attached photos), which after professional testing, turned out to be Asper nigra (black mold). I tried spraying Concrobium and other agents everywhere to no avail, had my ducts cleaned and sterilized, which helped, but my system was becoming reinfected. Then I isolated the molded areas and removed ALL material.....only then did things improve.I initially installed 3 units:1) Underneath my AC A-Coil;2) In Supply Plenum directly over the electric heating elements;3) In Return Plenum, directly over the chamber where the filter is inserted (to zap any dust that collects);and I intend to install this one;4) Over the A-Coil and directly underneath the forced air blower. The first install was a bit tricky as I used an ordinary cordless drill and later used an impact drill, which cut through the metal siding like butter. So far, my system is 99% plus Mold/Bacteria FREE and smells great. I still add cleansing tablets to the A-Coil drip pan, but other than that, do nothing. The only drawback is that the Bio-Shield lamp underneath my A-Coil shines directly on the 16x20x1 Merv 8 filters I use and fries them quickly, and I mean QUICKLY....the light definitely has a negative effect on anything paper/cotton/fibrous or plastic. So, I am using Merv 8 filters with built in Carbon fibers, which counteract the UV-C lights effects. When I install the new light under the blower, I intend to wrap all power cords/wiring in reflective 3M foil or other UV-C reflective material.Overall I am extremely pleased with this product. It is extremely easy to install (just make sure your hole is exactly where you want it if drilling through metal casing) and hassle free....AND most importantly, is keeping the A-Coil, drain pan, heating elements and other parts of the system clean......I would NOT recommend installing these lights anywhere in the Supply/Return ducts where the light does not hit parts of your HVAC system and the light will NOT work effectively on moving air.....these lamps are FOR sterilizing stagnant air and most importantly, the parts which can get mold/mildew/bacteria.....UV-C light takes several minutes, if not 10-20 minutes, to be effective on surfaces. If you keep these parts clean and your ducts are clean and metal lined AND dry, you will never deal with this crud again.PS....I also installed a plain UV-C bulb over the drain next to my water heater/water softener and replaced the plastic grate with a metal one.....I used to pour baking soda then Distilled White Vinegar every 3 months to keep 'odors' at bay, but so far the $10 bulb and cheap clip lamp seems to be doing all this for me.

Install smooth and simple... but...1 Week Update
November 6, 2018 Installing was not quite as easy as the online videos show. Of course I was not drilling the whole into duct board, but to the side of the air handler (sheet metal). The included hole saw took a bit longer to get through the metal, but it did so I cant complain. Once the hole was done, install was rather simple. There is a step where you turn the blue power disc into the clear mount... I tried to do that several times but there was no click and the orange plunger would not go down. Again, it is a moot point since as you turn the blue power disc, it tightens on the clear mount and does not move at all.Installed it less than 24 hours ago, and I purchased this to treat the coils to get rid of the dirty sock smell. We are at the point in the year where I live that one day the AC is needed and the next, the heat is needed. I have been using AC for the past several days so I will need to wait until we switch again.I can say that I wanted to install this on the bottom of the coils, in the middle of the A, if that makes sense. I have a new system and an all aluminum coil but the drip pan is plastic and since I hear that UV-C light is not the best thing for plastic, I mounted it above the A. In theory, the light will shine through the tines and get both sides of the coil but time will tell.November 14, 2018 Unfortunately this item does not appear to be effective at all, for what I need it for. The smell has actually worsened since installing though that does not make any sense. The dirty sock smell fills the house every time the air handler turns on. The light is still powered on. The attached pictures are after the 8 days of install. You can see where it is mounted, it hits the top of the coils but not underneath. I want to mount it underneath (where all of the returns come in) but there is a drip tray that appears to be in the way... which now I dont even now how air gets through there (hence my recent review on adapter for endoscope). I still have the box and might need to return, though I had super high hopes.

Our Florida home started to get a bad smell when it first kicked on
Our Florida home started to get a bad smell when it first kicked on. This lead to a call to have the coils cleaned in the unit. They recommended we get a UV light so we had this one installed.. 2 months later we inspected inside the unit and I was pretty shocked to find mold on the coils less than 4 inches from the light itself. The light still lights up blue and it had been on continuously for the two months. Seeing the mold has left me convinced this unit does not work at all. Will be looking into other brands / alternatives.

Lasted for two years
Update: Since we can't really find new bulbs made by the manufacturer we have decided to stop using this item as soon as the last bulb dies out. We bought a heavy duty steam cleaner instead (on Amazon), and that does a better job of getting rid of allergens than this bulb.Unit died after two years of use (Dec 2015 - Dec 2018). Warranty is only for one year. Final cost of this unit is $75 per year (50 for unit, 25 for bulb). It took us a couple of months to really notice the air quality change. This isn't stopping me from buying another unit because we cut a hole in our system to accommodate it. We are pretty much stuck because we are not cutting another hole for a different unit. This is, unfortunately, the cost of clean air.
