Easy to use out of the box with straight forward instructions. Repeat FSBG results were within just a few points of each other. No wide variation in results as some other reviewers mentioned. I was impressed that in the instructions the company also provided accurate explanations for why FSBG results might vary slightly ( circulating capillary blood can contain slightly different concentrations of glucose from one minute to the next). As well, the initial drop of blood in likely to contain epithelial (skin) cells, which is why I personally choose to dab the first drop of blood onto a clean paper towel and then perform the test with the next drop.The machine and lancet holder are very light weight so I do feel the need to handle them with care. It’s probably a good idea to keep the bubble wrap packet that the meter comes in, and continue to store the meter in it for continued protection. It comes with plenty of test strips/ lancets as advertised, and they were also thoughtful enough to include a starter pack of 5 lancets with slightly larger needle tips for those with particularly tough fingers. The regular lancets work well for me personally with the lancet holder dialed to 4 ( on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the deepest puncture depth), and I have average toughness.The handful of bad reviews the I saw for this product are likely due to the fact that out of a couple thousand meters sold, there is bound to be a couple oddball units that have an issue, OR test strips who’s quality may have become compromised due to extreme temperature issues in transport. Either way, the company is clearly easy to reach and very responsive, as well as ready to remedy the occasional variant that can occur with any product. I bought an additional 100 test strips and lancets, in addition to the ones provided and expect to be set for quite some time for only $45.This is much better then the name brand alternative that only provides a meter for the same amount of money and also requires that you purchase test strips, lancets, as well as a kit to run controls...just to get started for around $200!

This glucometer really helps me a lot in managing my blood sugar. It’s very easy to use, handy and it won’t give you any hard time to operate it. It provides you enough lancet and strips as well.

People say the Contour Next is the best/most accurate. Now this cheaper alternative is also accurate, within 1 mg/dl accuracy.However the lancet included is not as good as Contour Next. You can see the Contour lancet has a longer bevel than Auvon. This longer bevel surprisingly does not make it more painful at all but yield more blood to avoid another prick.Overall a good cheaper alternative to the gold standard Contour Next.

Needed to replace my old meter and settled on this one. Functions relatively speaking like every other meter I have used and appears to be accurate (in comparison to measurements taken on my old meter). So was affordable and does the job perfectly.
