Guitar Amp Use..!!
I bought an old-school DOD ICE-T 60 Watt guitar amp from a thrift store for $20 a few years ago. It had old paper cone / foam surround 8" / 8 Ohm speakers that were totally destroyed. But I remembered that these little amps had great specs, effects, sound, etc. These speakers are advertised as home-stereo, box/speaker replacements - but I gave them a try - and they are killer..! I marked and drilled new mounting holes into the amp and the speakers installed and fit perfectly. These 8" 8 Ohm speakers are SO much better technology, sound, durability, and performance than paper/foam old/tech speakers..!!I am Very happy!! Thanks for the well built, affordable speakers!!

a good little woofer to swap in if you need to put a worn out or blown one in the garbage. fit perfectly in my jbl speaker box with out drilling or cutting etc. i took the old woofer out and put the new ones right in. sounds just fine as good if not better than the one that came new with the speaker. it came in on time and as advertised by the seller. plus its better quality than i had assumed for the price. cone is solid, basket is stiff and fair foam/rubber surround. only thing i would say that could really improve it would be maybe a little more excursion from the so called spider or motor. it seems a little cheap and restrictive when comparing to the rest of the woofer. but im not at all un happy with it so far it sounds fine and was an easy swap in. hope it holds up and breaks in well.

Blown voicecoils on just 50 watts!!! Mediocre performance and short lifespan!
Update 2: Fast forward 2 years of light use, and both GRS woofers are blown with fried voice coils. These are supposedly 200W drivers, but they couldn't handle my little 50W amplifier. I only use the PA speakers a few times a year for karaoke parties, so they definitely weren't abused or overworked. Pretty darn disappointing!!!Update 1: The sound quality got somewhat better after a couple hours of use, so I guess they just needed to be broken-in a bit. One star added...Original Review: I got two of these GRS 8" woofers to replace the woofers in some older PA speakers. The surround material on the old woofers was wearing out and cracking, and I thought these GRS drivers would be a decent upgrade. Unfortunately, they produce noticeably less bass than the originals, and they sound flat with very little depth. They'll still work for my needs despite the less-than-stellar sound quality. The PA speakers are used for karaoke at our organization's Holiday parties and Spring picnics, so hopefully they'll last for many years.

Great Replacement speakers thus far
Purchased 2 of these speakers to replace the Woofers on a pair of Yamaha NS-6490 speakers that were giving me some unwanted pops with low bass sounds in movies! At first I was a little skeptic of these polypropylene woofers; they replaced woofers that were marked 6.5 ohm even though the speaker box label has 8 ohm! I thought I made a mistake with these speakers; I got them in, connected them & thought the older ones sounded better, even after performing the AVR auto setup for them, BUT, after several hours of use and a couple of TV shows & movies later I noticed the bass becoming richer & feeling the low frequency more. A couple of days & more hours of use I reset my auto setup on my AVR & even with the movie "UP" in the scene with boulders crashing the "feeling" of the low bass was very good; I could feel the vibration of the falling boulders & I could increase the volume beyond the point the originals would pop & crack! We'll see how they last in a couple of months!using AVR with 90 watts/channel03/31/16update informed by seller that these woofers, as all drivers, have a break-in period of 20 to 40 hours!

Midrange frequency, and can get loud, little bass
It's difficult to rate a speaker that costs so little. Is it unfair to compare these to speakers costing three times as much? Yes.All I can say is, they work. The surround is stiff and I don't see that changing over time. The sound is very midrange, the bass is audible butit is half of the bass one would desire. These are good for talk radio as they are completley devoid of any boominess. I installed these in ainfinite baffle with fiberglass inside on the back and one side, made by Sony. For the record, I have three sets of four inch speaker enclosures that sound much better than these, five inch low end JBL speakers blow these away. The sound would be good for monitors for use in a live band situation, very midrange and loud.

I cried from joy!
I took on a project to refurbish a pair of vintage 4300 series JBL monitors. Believe it or not, the monitor cabinets had been sitting up in a garage for over 15 years. I wanted to keep the original JBL blue color in theme, and the outside of the cabinets I sanded them and stained a walnut mahogany. Remarkably the tweeters were in perfect condition even after 39 years. However after 39 years of various climent exposure, the woofers were toast.I went on a quest to research the best possible solution for a woofer replacement. I purchased these from Amazon and mounted them inside the cabinets. Although I am an amateur audiophile, the end result literally made me cry. The depth of these woofers and tweeters combined is so remarkable, I heard Kenny G taking breaths in between notes as he blew his sax.my vintage JBL monitors are priceless to me. I wouldn't sell them to Bill Gates if he landed in my backyard in a gold helicopter with cash in hand.
