I have used this product on multiple occasions to paint engine components on several classic '50s Cadillacs. It is good for valve covers, blocks, intakes, water pumps, etc. You can brush it on or spray it on. I usually spray it. When you spray it, you can reduce it if you like but there isn't a need to reduce it much, something like 4 parts paint to 1 part reducer will give you better flow and still provide good coverage without drips. This paint is durable, you can paint hardware and torque to specification without it flaking off if you are careful. Like most paint projects, surface prep is key. I like to sand blast everything to get good adhesion and best results. Also you can use this product without primer if you use a metal prep but i prefer to use a good high-temp primer for best results. Save a classic Caddy from having a Ford blue engine block just because it was convenient to buy paint at your local auto parts store, and give this paint a try--you won't regret it.

Best paint for engine builds. Dries pretty fast, but takes time to cure. I was able to coat my parts and engine 3 times and I still have a little over 1/4 of a can left. I just brushed it on. I don’t have paint guns or anything.

I chose to apply this with a brush, though i had concerns with brush marks. In this, though, the paint was great - it is fairly high viscosity, and glosses out very well, providing a nice thick coat. The colour is almost a match to the Engine paint I got on my Mini in England - i will have to see how it ages to match. Where i had issues was in the sensitivity to solvents. For an engine paint, i would expect that it would be resistant to solvents, including a quick wipe to remove grease (i could even live with a dulling of the surface with Acetone, since that is pretty extreme, but...) When I tried putting a second coat on per the instructions on the can, i got a lot of wrinkling of the paint even without using a solvent to de-grease the surface. And anywhere Acetone did get on the surface, the paint got soft and could be scraped off with a plastic spatula (which i ended up having to do because of the wrinkling...) I had to strip and repaint the whole valve cover, but this time i did just a single coat, and that worked better.

This stuff is awesome, i just used a brush and took my time to paint the intake manifold and pump. It's thick like syrup, so, it's not runny, but, as it sits, it smooths out and leaves a beautiful finish, no stroke lines. If you get this, just clean up the surface and brush it on with anything, brush or sponge brush. a little bit goes a long way, i used an old tupper ware i kept, poured a little in that, did the whole top of the motor, capped off the tupperware, came back the next morning, opened the little bit i had left in the tupperware, was still good, touched up a few spots i missed. it may seem pricey, but, way better than spray paint, totally worth it.

Nice finish, rock hard, covers well. Note: Do not get this on bare skin or anything you want to keep clean. It doesn’t come off, so wear gloves and a face shield unless you want to wear it for 2 weeks lol. I use this for several different applications; including engines, transmissions, and frame components. It will probably outlive me. If you do spill, hit it with a bunch of acetone quickly (or their cleaner) or you won’t remove it.

Item arrived very fast and the price was very reasonable. I cannot rate the quality of the product because I live in Canada and I have to wait until it warms up a bit before I can use it.
