Ion Permanent Creme Hair Color

I took someone’s advise and used 20 developer with the orchid dye. I am brunette with a lot of gray. Been using Pulp Riot jam but this color blows it out of the water! Deep, rich color. I’ve had so many compliments from strangers and friends. I have a new go to for radiant, shiny purple! Total gray coverage and is lasting. I do get some color on my towel, even after several washes. So be careful of that. I use all white towels so I can bleach them. It came right off. Great product!

I dyed my hair in the beginning of July 2025 as seen in the first picture. The second and third pictures were taken today, March 3 of 2026. This color LASTS!! In the current photos, you can see my hair is naturally very dark brown (the black dye has since faded out). I have virgin hair, never been bleached or lightened. The color retention is crazy and the red does not bleed past the first week of washing. I did not and do not use any sort of specialty color-safe shampoo or conditioner (probably why the black faded so quickly), and I did not use the Ion Color Sealer after dyeing it. I used the Ion 20 volume developer. I usually wash my hair twice a week, sometimes three times, but I NEVER put heat on it, so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it as well. Overall, I genuinely highly recommend this product!

Update: Best dark blue PERMANENT COLOR ON THE MARKET! I wash my hair about 3 x's a week, warm not cold water. The dye does bleed a little during wash but still vibrant. I have tried ALL PERMANENT dark blue hair dye available, this one is absolutely the best. I included a recent photo after nearly 2 months of regular shampooing. Note: did not bleach my hair first; uses 20 vol cream Ion peroxide over natural level 5 to 8 hair Wife says: Perfect with 20 vol developer on UNBLEACHED natural hair! No need to bleach first of you want a subtle dark blue. My natural color ranges from grey, dark blonde, to brunette. You can see the different shades of blue on all my different natural shades, that's why there are different shades of blue. I recommend. Much better price inside the Sally's shop, but was nice to be able to order online to try it first before going to the shop TO BUY SEVERAL MORE 😆

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly Recommend – Stunning Purple Results! I purchased Ion Permanent Brights Crème Hair Color in Radiant Orchid, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I ordered two boxes since my hair is long (about halfway down my torso), and I definitely recommend doing the same if you have longer or thicker hair. For reference, my hair was previously dyed purple using box dye, and I did not lighten it before applying this product. I mixed both boxes together with 10-volume developer in a reusable dye bottle and applied it as a full-head application. The color turned out absolutely incredible a rich, vibrant, and beautiful purple that looks very professional. Honestly, this dye has completely converted me to salon-grade hair color. If you’re considering going purple, this is 100% the dye you want. The only minor downside is the very strong smell, but that’s pretty standard with salon-quality hair dye, so it didn’t bother me much. I’ve attached a photo, though it truly doesn’t do the color justice (my daughter was asleep, so I couldn’t take a better one). After rinsing with cold water only, I applied conditioner and left it in for about 5 minutes. My hair feels soft, healthy, and undamaged, no dryness or stiffness at all. Overall, I’m extremely impressed. 5/5 stars, you’ve definitely gained a loyal customer!

This was my go-to brand for years and I always had perfect results. I stopped dyeing my hair for quite some time and then decided to go back to dye. I usually used the bright red, but this time I chose rose. I dont understand what has changed but its not good. It did absolutely nothing to my greys, at all. I use to leave it on for 25 minutes with 20 vol developer. I left this on for 30. It tinted my hair and made it almost a dark natural redhead color, but it was suppose to be "rose." There was a few spots that had a more rose color to them, but thats it. My greys were still popping like always. What use to last me 3+ months with minimal fading lasted a whopping week with 2 hair washes with "color safe" shampoo.

I’ve been searching for a permanent red dye for bleached hair, and this worked so well. Instructions said to use 10 volume developer but I only had 20, so I used 1oz 20 volume and 1oz water and it worked perfectly. Will update on how it fades UPDATE!! 2nd picture is ~8 weeks after I dyed it. It stuck around pretty well for ~7 weeks, then got pretty orangey. (I shower in coldish water every other day and swim once a week) It only lasted a little bit longer than my usual semi-permanent, which it a bit frustrating considering this is supposed to be permanent. PROS: DOESN'T STAIN ANYTHING!! decently long lasting, perfect color CONS: damages hair a bit, doesn't last as long as I'd like, dying process is a bit involved Overall, it depends on what you're looking for. if you'd rather have less damage, easy application, and are ok with a pink shower and pillowcases, I highly recommend adore semi-permanent dye. If you want it to stick around a little longer and not stain anything, choose this! Personally, I think I'll keep using this, considering I'm going into college and will be sharing a bathroom.

I love this color!!! It covered up my grey hairs and it makes my hair look so bright and healthy. It doesn’t have a strong smell either which is very nice.

I decided to try this hair dye after being reassured by its claim of being PPD-free, as I have a known sensitivity to PPD. Unfortunately, during the patch test, I experienced skin rashes and irritation—exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping to avoid. This raises serious concerns: either the product is not genuinely PPD-free, or it contains another equally harmful chemical causing similar reactions. The whole point of purchasing a product labeled "PPD-free" is to avoid such issues, and this one completely failed to deliver on its promise. If you have sensitive skin or chemical allergies, I’d recommend being cautious with this product. For me, this was a disappointing and frustrating experience. Transparency about ingredients is critical, and this product left me with more questions than trust.

طريقة الاستعمال غير واضحه ويبدو ان هنالك مواد اخرى لم ترسل او على الاقل لم يتم ابلاغي بانه يتوجب علي شراء مستحضر اخر يخلط معه عموما اشتريته لانه خالي من PPD على اساس ان معي حساسيه من هذه الماده ولكن اتضح ان لدي حساسيه من جميع صبغات الشعر

I’ve previously dyed my hair many times and my hair has never fallen out, but with this product that I’ve never used it did. It’s not even worth it because the colour did nothing to my hair

No difference in the hair color. Difficult to actually find the instructions. When I finally did on the inside of package the print was so small I needed a magnifying glass to read and even then it was unclear. Terrible smell. Would not recommend this product to anyone.
