I don't know why I've spent so many years paying mechanics to change my air filter. This was the easiest thing in the world. Filter seems to work great, too. The air coming from my vents smells much fresher than before.

Car dealer charged me $100 to replace this cab filter the last time. After watching a YouTube video, I did it in 5 minutes.

Although I checked and double checked this was the right size for my car, and Amazon's vehicle tracking indicated it was the right part as well, the filter was just *slightly* too big to install without modification.I had to cut roughly one to two millimeters off of the left and right sides of the filter in order to install it. This didn't damage or impair the functionality of the filter in any way - on the left and right sides there runs a length of flat siding. I didn't have to cut the siding entirely off, just shave it down. Cutting was difficult, requiring considerable force with a pair of strong, sharp heavy duty scissors.Had some issues laying completely flat but that may be a consequence of my needing to modify it. How ever I didn't modify the top and bottom - the bottom edge lies flush against the back of the tray, but the top flat edge is slightly shorter on the left side compared to the right and so the right side is flush but the left isn't.When sliding the top and bottom edges under the tabs at the bottom of the tray, the material of the filter likes to ruck up rather than slide under and it can take some effort or use of a pointed tool to depress the edge down, in order to slide it under.Otherwise filter appears good. Better than original.

The Toyota brand filter in my 4Runner had gotten quite dirty and needed replacement. I found this Breathe Easy filter on Amazon and tried it due to lots of good reviews. And it was much cheaper than the Toyota filter.When I replaced the filter (which is extremely easy and quick to do- don't even think of paying your car dealer for doing it), I was very pleasantly surprised to find the Breathe Easy filter looked much sturdier and higher quality than the Toyota filter I was replacing. It fit perfectly and works great.I can't compare this filter with other brands besides the factory filter, but since it's a really good filter, I'd say just go with this one and you'll definitely be happy. I seriously doubt you'll find a better filter.

This isn't a review about the product as much a PSA - many people don't even know their cars HAVE a filter for the cabin air, and it's likely that it has never been changed.Pic is from a Youtube installation video, but mine was just as bad - both likely original filters. Yours may be too, if you haven't replaced it. By my mark ,our car should be on its 9th or 10th by now; I am all but certain it's on #2.Replacing this would be extra prudent in 2020, as I believe most car fans pass recirculated air through this filter. So, if you've just bought a used car, it's quite likely carrying around a slate-colored tray of detritus from nature - and who-knows what from the previous owners - and chucking it back into your face.As is their wont, Subaru has made the installation relatively difficult (it must be a game between their engineers), so no points on or off for the filter mfr. However, it fit right in under the tray tabs and everything seems to be going well since re-installation.Breathe fresh, y'all!
