Works Great For Dishwasher Descaling & Cleaning
My dishwasher was looking pretty grungy inside after a few years of use. I had been looking for a hard water deposit and residue cleaning agent and ran across this product. Generally some form of acid based products work best for cleaning scale deposits and things like gross greasy food residues that tend to accumulate. After reading several reviews on this product, I liked that it was food safe, being citric based, and simple to use. When the time comes to descale, I first manually clean out any food/grease residue from the dishwasher cavity--worst place is usually along the inside seal on the bottom part of the door. Then I put all of our glassware into the dishwasher, pour in about 1/2 cup of softener cleaner, and run a normal cycle with high temp setting. Boy, does it do the trick! All of the dishes AND the dishwasher turn out sparkling clean. Another reviewer mentioned putting in a teaspoon along with the dish detergent powder in every load or two. Haven't tried this but plan to soon.

This is very hard to find . . .
. . . but Amazon had it. I just found out that I had to use, or should have used this in my newer Software System since I installed it. So a tad bit late, but I'm using it to keep my investment clean and working. Keeping the Resin Bed Clean is so important these days and this is how to do it.And have a source to get it.

Works good, little pricey
I have hard, low iron, sw Florida water. I seem to get the best results when I empty and rinse the brine well, add about 3 gallons of water and dissolved cleaner (2 cups) and then run a cycle. If you add the cleaner (an acid) it with salt in the tank (alkaline) its not nearly as effective, as they almost cancel each other out. This is also a great cleaner for dishwasher and coffee pot.

Add to softener salt for better function
I add this and citric acid to the salt reservoir and the softening works better

Really works!!
I never knew about cleaning the rosin beads until I saw this stuff. We were really have problems with our on demand water heater putting grit into the lines and clogging the screens in the faucets. We know that happens when the water is not soft, so we cycled and cycled the water softener, but it didn't help. I slowly became an expert in cleaning those little screens!I found this on Amazon and bought one--dumped in the recommended amount, ran the cycle a couple of times--and like magic the grit accumulation slowed way down. It couldn't work its best because the salt level was pretty high. After the salt level got down, I added the recommended amount and now, no more grit!!Works great, easy to use. The only annoyance is that there is not two full treatments in one bottle--you have to buy to two bottles. But since we will be using this regularly, it isn't that big a deal.

Saved a lot of $$$
I found this product when looking for information on maintenance procedures for resin bead bed softeners..a Culligan Rust Master unit in particular. The softener had stopped working due to a clogged brine well hose. Clearing the obstruction did NOT fix the problem: The softener bead bed had evidently become fouled during the time the brine flow was restricted. A 'Big Blue' twine filter downstream from the softener was covered in iron goop. (It, too, was replaced during this process)**update** Six months after the first brine tank dosing and filter replacement, the filter was checked and found to be in perfect shape. Not a hint of iron contamination. The Iron Master softener is still working fine.**After ONE treatment (as directed on the container label) the water quality was greatly improved. Sorry...no 'official' grain numbers, just Mom saying, 'It's much better!'After three more manual re-gen cycles (24 hours apart) and a few weeks of 'normal' use, 'Mom' says 'It's just fine!'That's a better report than any grain number from a test unit! This same unit had the bed replaced some years back due to some other malfunction. That cost was well over $1000. This product was a WAG, something to try on a known bad filter bed.IT WORKED!!A maintenance dose has been added with the last salt replenish, as per instructions on the bottle. This is good stuff!

Twin doesn't mean 2 bottles
This is confusing. I thought I was getting a twin pack - that usually means 2 items. I only received 1 bottle. The product itself is fine - it's citric acid.
