Great looking High Quality
Installed in remodeled shower and I am very happy with the quality of the product. Better be a good plumber though, or hire one. This would not be a direct replacement in most cases.

Must have
This set is a must have if you install Hansgrohe external thermostatic mixer. You will need this kit to make sure you have the stub outs on correct distance from each other. Once you finished walls, you will need to cut them to leave 3/4” from the wall. Then attach thread adapter that comes with the mixer and you can install the mixer. I cut the stub outs with an angle grinder - they are made of relatively soft metal, so they can also be cut by hand saw for metal. Angle grinder just made it quicker. The metal “bridge” plate that connects two stub outs for installation makes it extremely easy to keep them on correct distance from each other. Money well spent.

Practical, but not necessary
I did buy this template to rough-in the new HansGrohe shower. It is practical, but costly. There was a much cheaper option, not by HansGrohe, but for a template it does not matter.

Not Absolutely Necessary - But Get it Anyway
I purchased the Hansgrohe 27169001 Chroma Green Showerpipe and it requires precise placement of the stub-outs. You could make your own template, but this makes it idiotproof. You cannot misaligne the stubouts using this metal template. If You're going for upscale and a lasting product, spend the money so the install goes without problems. Granted, I think this should be included, but it's not. Oh well, just figure you're spending a tad more for the fixture and live with it.

This is an important part
Do not overlook it when installing your shower. It survived demolition of tilework that was done wrong and building new one. The way it is designed is genius and simple.

Requires a 3/8" Hex Key/ Allen Wrench
Be aware that these fancy threaded pipes require a 3/8" Hex Key to tighten into your 1/2" drop ear elbows. I didn't have one. They're a well crafted bit of hardware and it's nice that they come with the jig and plugs.

Get it on straight
Takes a lot of attention to get this set perfectly level in all directions. At first they leaked and I had to unscrew and retape them to reinstall. I think I overtightened them at first.
