Vaultz Locking Storage Clipboard with Key Lock, 8 .5 x 11 Inches, Black (VZ01391)

I finally got a chance to use this in the field. I am a professional mystery shopper and work outside as well as inside. I need my hands free for taking pictures and filling out forms on-site. I used this today and it was great. All the forms I had to fill out and receipts were safely tucked inside the case. The shoulder strap really made this combination screem: WINNER. I give it 5 stars for quality materials, construction, and the shoulder strap. (I think the strap should be six inches longer. I was able to write on the clipboard while holding it against my chest, wearing the strap. It was a little short and sat rib high for writing.) But I worked for 1.5 hours outside, constantly switching from clipboard to camera and back. Normally, by the end of my assignment, my papers are looking rough. Today, they were only slightly curled on one edge. All my receipts and completed forms were tucked neatly inside, safe and dry. When I go into the field, this will be with me always. I dearly love it. I know, if it rains, my papers may get a little damp. But, as soon as I document my findings, they are tucked away, safely. The latch on this case is of good solid metal construction. The edges are smooth and the corners have metal reinforcement covers. There is not a sharp spot on it. There are even plastic feet on the corners and a metal opening on the back. That metal hole on the back is for hanging on a nail or hook. I hope the company will make another modification: I.e. Replace the plastic feet on it with soft rubber feet that are non-slip. It comes with a key; but, I do not need it for my work. For now, the key is secured with a plastic strip, inside the case. I will not remove it, unless the day comes when I want to use the lock. (For now, I do not have to worry about losing it.) I loved slinging it around my back while taking pictures. It felt so natural. In the past, I would lay my old-style clipboard down, unattended, and have to run back and forth to access my forms. In addition, the strap has quick release swivel, metal clasps on both ends. It can easily be replaced with a longer strap, if desired. Now the trimming! Inside the case it's fully lined and has (1) large and (3) small webbed compartments that are edged with elastic. The large webbing compartment stretches from side to side and is 4.5 inches deep. This is perfect for glasses, pens or a wallet. Below this compartment is a row of 3 smaller compartments, each one is 3 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. They are perfect for batteries, sticky pads or even storing keys. The right side of the compartment is perfect for holding letter size tablets of paper, or books. There is even a velcro strap to hold these items in place while you are constantly opening and shutting it to store or access your documents. Without the webbing and velcro, those items could well end up on the ground. All-in-all, a lot of thought went into development of this product. I highly recommend it to anyone needing a clipboard with storage for papers. Especially if you are outside and need protection from the elements. I wish I could show you my photo. It was every thing we hoped it would be! it is great iteam and works wonderfuly well the strap to carry it was a good idea and came in handy. loved the lock as well. It was well worth the money for it. My daughter will be using it at collage for her lab classes. It will make her life easyer there. I want to get one for my self as well soon. I would recomend this to collage students and others who need to write when a table is not available. It arrived on time and in great codition.

This clipboard would have been great... if it would have constantly opened. The lock would get stuck and would lock the case to where the key would not open it. useless.

After a few months, the locking mechanism began to misbehave. Then it took minutes to work with the lock so it would open. And finally, it would not open at all, so I had to pry open the box and stop using it.

i opened the package and i was like, hey this isnt too bad, but then i opened it to see the inside of the clipboard and the latch just popped right off. i think i can hammer the 2 pins back in but it was just a porr design, i think i will just crazy glue it, now if i use the clipboard it will do me no good because it cant close. there is nothing to hold it together. other than that thats the only problem i see with it so far, i havents used it yet but i know people are going to get jealous at work. i like the way it looks it is pretty study besides the clip breaking off and once i mickey mouse the broken peice i think i can have a aawesome clipboard

I bought the Vaultz Storage Clipboard to replace a plastic one. The clip on the plastic one that holds the compartment shut, fell off and was lost. I keep the Vaultz in my car to store all my receipts and other business documents. I like the rugged metal reinforced corners and sturdy construction. I think it is a good value and will last a very long time.

I bought this about 7 months ago to use for business. I needed a place to write and keep my notes along with a few pens, highlighters, calculator, business cards, pad of paper, pen flashlight, small screwdriver and more. So I fit a lot of items essential for making each work day more efficient and this works great. So far it has held up well everyday and provides the function of a clipboard with a small briefcase. I have never used the lock so I have no comment on that. It is a great size for what I am using it for and I am happy with this business purchase many months later. Update: 2018 I've been using this same clipboard for over 5 years and it is still very much intact and being used frequently. This has helped me stay more organized with work as a contractor. I keep a pad and pen on the front for job notes and additional pens, business cards, LED pen light, credit card readers, product sell sheets, tax forms and a calculator inside. Now my wife wants one for her new business.

This is a sturdy clipboard with lots of storage space for all my paperwork and a pouch for pens and pencils! If I ever need another clipboard I would buy a Vaultz again! No more plastic ones!
