Heavenly English Gardens . Scented .
This book is a classic. I'm not even a very good gardener , but this book is about so much more . It's about life. Fascinating facts, bits of poetry, reflections and also practical advice , how to , where to , and when to . I may even give it to people for Christmas, well to people I love .

A calming beauty of a book
Beautiful book. The photography is just sumptuous. The sections flow like caramel evoking a sense of the scent of plants, parts of plants I would never have tried smelling and flowers.I can’t wait for spring for my garden to wake.I was sent an e-copy of the book for review and I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to buy the hardback as the books just sublime.

Lusciously evocative. Whenever I have a quiet moment I dive back into this book to lose myself meandering through a dreamy gardenscape.

Magic indeed
What a treat of a book for Londoners without a garden. Sat up till the early hours reading it and then back to it again at 5 in the morning. I am now rationing myself but can’t resist taking peeks at the photos.

Beautifully written book
This is a beautifully written book, Isabel's use of language is a delight, it's a gardening book written from the perspective of scent. The author must have an amazing sense of smell, I have been working in gardens and with plants for thiry years and this book gave me a new perspective. I'm so pleased I bought it.

Gorgeous, evocative book
A beautifully written, sumptuously illustrated book that is at once poetic and romantic and packed full of information... Isabel Bannerman is a brilliant writer, not just on gardens but on literature, science, history. This is a book to re-awaken the senses and re-engage the mind. After reading it I found myself sniffing the air and suddenly alive to all the smells around me - she makes you hungry for scent, to dip your nose into a rose or take great gulps of woody, autumn air. There are also great bits of science and botany which are fascinating and eye-opening. I couldn't recommend this book more - the perfect present for the lover of gardening, flowers, nature writing, history and poetry!
