This valve lasts forever. Great value, hands down.
It does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it without fail for years. I've had mine for over 10 years. I bought another one just to have a back up two years ago. Well worth the money. I use it for filling a 300 gallon tank for pressure washing that when driven down the road takes quite a beating. Lever type toilet valves bounce around and break apart after being on the road a while. But a Hudson valve lasts for years. Every now and then I get a lizard or a frog stuck up in there and I have to take it apart to clean it but if you use a rubber gasket with a strainer at the end of your water hose, you shouldn't have that problem.

Good quality, works perfect.
Using this valve on a bulk water tank to keep it topped off. Works perfect and easy to open and clean out.

Works great!
I mounted this to the lid of a 35-gallon tank to use as a buffer tank for pressure washing. With a little plumbming, it works great!

Sometimes sticks
You have to watch Hudson valves because they will stick open on you, and not because they aren't clean. I think the float, which has little nubs that touch the walls of the valve get worn after a while and don't slide as easy as when niew. I've tried rebuilding without replacing the float but it doesn't help with the sticking. A rebuild kit costs about $13.00 as of this writing which includes the float. Cleaning is not real hard but there are a couple of small holes that need a small wire to gently remove any plugging.I like these because they don't have an arm that sticks out like other float valves. They handle a higher pressure than many of the others do too. I use them in large fish tanks in our aquaponics system so the water in the tanks is not pristine. They are piped to city water and last three or four months before needing a rebuild. Overall not a bad float valve. Perhaps a design change for the nubs, like a nylon cap or something, would help reduce the sticking.

Stop wasting your money on junk and get these!
Have these on all of my water troughs. Spend the extra money and avoid the headaches. We live in Southeast Texas and get about 1 or 2 freezes a year and they have yet to crack or bust. I have one that has been on a cattle trough going on 8 years now

very easy install
now i dont have to wait and putter around while filling the water trough for the cattle. Update this thing works great set it at the desired height get all the connections tight and forget about it . ( check once and a while to see if the cattle may have moved it :) )

Lasted 3 months !
Update..... contacted Hudson and they said this is a FAKE copy of their valve. They said Amazon has not been much help keeping these fakes off their site. This is the second Hudson valve I've bought. The first one has lasted for years. This one latest 3 months. Come home yesterday morning and had very little water pressure. Looked around and found this valve leaking and running over my water trough. Had water inches deep all over so it probably run all night. Hopefully Hudson will get in touch and make this right.
