DT 990 PRO Limited Black Edition Open-Back Studio Headphones 80 Ohm

I was drawn to these as you see they have been extremely popular in the content creator space. I have not been let down, the sound clarity & quality has been great, they are comfy and the design is such that you could remove the cans and customise them if you wish. They have stood up to being knocked around somewhat so the durability is good too.

These headphones offer a balanced and accurate sound profile, making them ideal for critical listening tasks such as mixing, mastering, and editing. One of the standout features of the DT 990 Pro is its open-back design, which provides a spacious soundstage and increased comfort during extended sessions, so you don't get the sweaty feeling The build quality of the headphones is impressive, with durable materials used throughout. The adjustable headband and plush ear cushions ensure a comfortable fit for most head sizes. In terms of sound performance, the DT 990 Pro excels in delivering crisp highs, detailed midrange, and tight bass response. The sound signature is relatively neutral, with a slight emphasis on the treble frequencies, making these headphones well-suited for analytical listening. I use steelseries sonar for gaming, so I can adjust these and get the exact sound I want, but to be fair out of the box they are fine. However, it's worth noting that the open-back design also means these headphones lack isolation from external noise, which may not be suitable for use in noisy environments or for individuals who prefer privacy during their listening sessions. Probably wouldn't use them on the commute.

These are great headphones with very wide sound stage, but if you want a more accurate pair of headphones you might want to spend a little extra and get the DT900 Pro X. It depends also on the type of music and what your using them for, if you want a pair of headphones for listening to music that has a lot going on like classical music, the DT990 Pro are better suited or if your a musician wanting that wide sound stage they're great for placing your sounds. If you plan on not just mixing your music but mastering aswell then the DT900 Pro X are better for this. The DT900 Pro X have slightly less sound stage its like they are a semi closed back headphone compared to DT990 Pro. Both types of headphones are really great in there own way, would recommend both models.

These are without doubt the comfiest headphones I've ever worn and the sound quality is really good but the bass and volume were just too low for me so they was returned. Always wanted to try some wired headphones as they're supposed to have superior sound quality but unlike bluetooth headphones that have apps to adjust things unless you have lots of equipment to be able to adjust the EQ and stuff you've no way of adjusting things if your just using them for listening from a phone like i was looking to do. Looked into trying a headphone amp but didn't really want to keep spending additional money on the chance of improving things.

I bought these headphones to plug into my Mac and listen to Apple Music Lossless, but I've also tried from an iPhone using an Apple lightning DAC and from an iPad using a Hidxs S3 Pro USB-C DAC. They're not expensive so I wasn't expecting that much (more of an experiment) but the sound quality is exceptional, I'm hearing detail that I've never heard before. Plenty of spare volume on the Mac or the iPad but iPhone maxes out. I listen at my desk (home office) while working so the wire isn't an inconvenience. UPDATE … I’ve added an IFi Go Link dongle DAC and the sound quality has gone from good to outstanding. Note there's no microphone so not for calls and they're open backed - upside being you can hear what's going on around you - downside others can hear what you're listening to, although not much leaks out.

I always use to get the like 'gaming' headsets which cost about the same and honestly I'm shocked with how much money I wasted because the dt990s are the highest quality and best sounding headphones I've ever heard even compared to the 200 quid headsets I've bought before which were just overpriced junk honestly just save your money get yourself this and a stand alone mic because these sound amazing with a large soundstage and are surprisingly easy to drive with my PC and a stand alone mic will always sound brtter than the little plastic nubben on headsets Aswell the open back design and being able to hear myself is actually quite a nice quality of life change just ensuring I'm not being too loud or being able to talk to someone whilst they're in it might not be for everyone but I can only assume the close backed dt770s are just as good for people who prefer that design

Best in the price range. Extremely clear, slighty recessed mids and once you turn the volume all the way up, you'll notice the infamous "treble spike". I find it quite bearable and it's a matter of taste. I like the EQ curve and it's perfect for casual listening or mixing during unsocial hours.
