FR Car Door Flapper Style Recliner Release Handle Long Exposed Wire End, Compatible with Ashley Recliners

Too bad the seller doesn't include more detailed pictures. I almost passed up this high priced handle because of that reason alone. However, a plastic piece broke off that holds the cylinder end of the cable so it would not pull the cable any longer. Since my manufacturer no longer sells these handles, I had no choice but to look online and take a chance on this one. The measurements were about the same and it looked the same, so I was hoping it would all work out. I am going to add a couple of more detailed pictures of this item for everybody to see.My existing cable, though a little tight, fit right in. You will need a pair of needle-nose pliers to get the metal holster back in place which holds the cable in place. It's a little to hard to do it by hand. The outer section of the oval is about 3.5" x 3" with roughly 2 3/4" x 2 1/4" for the cutout and it fit my existing hole cutout exactly, so no drilling or cutting for me!This handle is pretty good quality. Much better than my old handle and feels more sturdy when pulling the handle versus the other side of the couch which has the older handle.Overall, I would recommend this handle. If you want to save a few bucks and have a cylinder style attachment at the end of your cable, then you might want to try getting just the handle without the cable if the seller offers that option.

When the recliner release handle broke on one of our theatre seats, I immediately thought, "great, $1200 down the drain". A 10 minute Google search brought up this product so we ordered it with the hopes that maybe we could salvage the recliners. We bought the set of theatre seats used and cannot locate any model/serial number for the unit so we have no idea who the manufacturer is. Well, we were absolutlely THRILLED! Not only did the product arrive in just a few days, but it was the right one, it was fairly easy for my husband and son to install and voila, the recliner functions even BETTER than before. Make sure you measure the cable so that you know whether to order the long or short version of this product. We got lucky and ordered the long without knowing which one to purchase and it was the right one. Two days ago, the recliner release handle broke on my theatre seat (it's a set of 3 seats) so I ordered two more of these handles today (1 as a spare in case the 3rd seat breaks). A $60 investment in this part has saved a $1,200 purchase of seats we use every day!!

I had a matching sofa and loveseat that used these. The originals wore out after a few years. Over the years, I ended up purchasing multiple replacement handles including these. They too only last for a couple years at most before eventually breaking near the hinge. It's a poor design since the plastic in the handle is not strong enough to endure the opening motion for more than a limited number of uses (even if you try to open them extremely gently to avoid wear'n'tear). The company that made my furniture went out of business which is no surprise given they used such shoddy handles, and it became difficult to find replacements since fewer and fewer other brands appear to be using these any longer. I eventually reached the point where it was cheaper to just replace the furniture rather than continuing to buy replacement handles for them. If you need replacements, these are an option, but don't expect them to last long.

I was so disappointed when our Ashley recliner handle broke off and basically a tiny part of the plastic snapped off. I couldnt find a handle anywhere till I came to Amazon. I thought $25.00 was a bit pricey but needed to get it - cant reach anything that falls under the recliner now because of the bar under the base. I havent installed it yet but all reviews say it is easy and can be done by self. I hope to put it together this wek and will update the review. It looks just like the original and is a black HARD plastic with a very long cord.

This one lasted about a 14 months, which was a bout 8 months longer than just replacing the handle without the cable.It was easy to install, but the original was very hard to get out due to clearance issues.So I'm left with spending a few bucks less for just the handle which breaks more quickly but is far easier to install, or spending a few more bucks to get the complete assembly that lasts 3 times as long but is much more difficult to install.I think I need a new reclining couch soon.

Works well. Not all that easy to install. Would be great if there were some kind of install tool to help with the connection.

Fits my existing recliner chairs. This cable was a little too long and the short version too short. I had to do a little modifying to make the cable work properly. There is no way to easily adjust the cable length. (too much cable sticking out the end of the housing).

I had to look for another flapper since the one on my couch failed. Finally found this one and took a chance. The original flapper that broke was cheap and not well made. I thought this one would be the same but I was wrong. The unit i received is slightly bigger but fits perfect in the original hole. Not only bigger but better quality and works effortlessly. If you need a replacement this is the one for you.
