Works good and saved money
Wanted to replace with the GE OEM part but it was on backorder for several more weeks at several places I checked. This was a 24hr delivery and price was about $75 less. I read the reviews stating it lasts a year or less, but since there wasn’t many other options at the time and needed to get the fridge/freezer up and running quickly, decided to give it a try. I did notice the “burned” smell per se a day or 2 later as some reviews mentioned, but doesn’t seem to be very bad and going away now. Given the circumstances, it was a good choice- it’s only been an a week, but so far so good. Easy installation and saved money.

Quick maintenance for old refrigerator. Work perfectly
This normally fails after about 10 years or so. Mine fail and the freezer iced over. Replacement is quick (30-minute job) + time to deice the freezer. So far it works perfectly again

Fits our GE frig/freezer as advertised
Easily installed yesterday (with the help of Youtube videos), fit our 2003 GE frig/freezer as advertised, great price when compared to the same OEM part, defrost working again, and freezer and refrigerator back to proper temperatures. BUT, 4 stars instead of 5, because the odor the new heating element put out last night when it went into the defrost cycle was almost overwhelming. Although that odor is subsiding today, our sinuses still burn from the air pollution in the house. Other reviews mentioned the same issue. Perhaps it's some coating on the heating element wire that needs to burn off.Day 4: Odor is continuing to subside, although still noticeable, especially inside the freezing compartment. Our sinuses no longer are burning while inside the house. But, I'd be reluctant to install another defrost heating element like this, without the warranty of a professional appliance repair service that would guarantee no caustic odors from the installation.Day 6: Caustic odor essentially absent. RECOMMNEDATION: If you intend to install this defrost heating element in your refrigerator, plan to put the frig outside and let it run for a week before moving it into your home.

Perfect!
Freezer wasn’t thawing out. Bought this to fix the fridge not cooling like it should. Work perfectly and was a simple install.

7 months and dead with burnt wire
Installed this June 2024. Dead today. Only about 7 months until we recognized that we were not circulating cold air. Instead of $17, I will buy the $90+ unit. Sometimes, you really do get what you pay for. Please see pics and what you are recommended to avoid.

It fits and works
It works and it fits the older GE profile fridge, with the exception the sensor and switch (that black round thang) needs to be cut and spliced in. So make sure you have small zip tie, smaller electrical butt connectors (or soldering iron) and some heat shrink also. If you are diy this. For me the bracket that is holding the sliding baskets/shelfs needs to come off for the cover panel to come out they are held in place with T15 screws. And 4x 1/4 hex head sheet metal screw for the panel.
