Organic Aloe Vera Gel by Amara Beauty

I wish I took before and after pics of my husbands sunburn. We bought it as an emergency in the middle of the night on Saturday. We went to Wild rivers and my husband thought he wouldn’t sunburn even though I told him he would about a million times. And this worked sooo well! His sunburn is almost completely gone and now he’s just tan. And this is only 2 DAYS later! Which is crazy because his sunburn was so bad the kind that looks like it would’ve blistered. It’s so easy to use and doesn’t smell bad. His skin feels good and not dry.

I've been using this for a few years and I love it. I can tell a difference in my skin when I haven't used in a few months. I don't use it too often, just after a shower about once or twice a month. It doesn't work the same as a lotion or moisturizer, but it has other worthwhile benefits. It makes my skin smooth and more wrinkle-free and it helps calm redness. It makes my hair shinier and more manageable. It's a life saver after a sunburn, I've gotten some bad sunburns and I applied this like every 30 minutes and it worked so well. I hope they never discontinue or change up this product. I'm looking into trying other products from Amara.It does have a smell, but it's slight and goes away after it's dried. It's not a bad smell either, just something that comes with having a natural product without scent added. It does sometimes come with a brownish tint, or develop the tint over time, but again this just comes with a natural product and this color doesn't affect how well the aloe works.On my faceI use this on my face occasionally, especially when my face is irritated from anything from a bad acne breakout to a long swim in a chlorine pool to chapped and dry from the winter wind. It calms the redness and inflammation so effectively, the results are instant. If I use it on my face too often, or too much, then my face does turn red and reacts. This is pure aloe so it is a little strong for the face, so I don't do it too often, I always dilute with water, and I put on lotion when it's almost soaked in. I cleanse my face, wet it, put the aloe on, let it soak in until its almost dry, and then put my CeraVe lotion on. It helps to follow up with lotion.On my bodyI especially like using this after I've shaved, it keeps the redness away and makes my skin so smooth. After a shower, I don't dry off, I put the aloe on, and let it soak in till dry. I put lotion on after.On my hairAfter a shower when my hair is wet, I just put in my hair and let it dry. I do it a few days before an important event, not the day of, because it does make my hair a bit more unmanageable until I wet it again, when it's better than before.

I decided to try Amara Organics Aloe Vera gel because I suffer from acne and wanted to try using a natural, gentle product on my face. My acne flares up a lot when my skin is dry. I live in NYC, where the winters can be brutal on my skin, and acne products make my acne so much worse, because they dry out my skin even more. During the very humid summers, my face can get quite greasy, which causes my face to break out as well. Basically, my skin doesn't know how to regulate itself. First, I would like to point out that Amara Organics sent me an email days after I made my order thanking me for my purchase while explaining what it can be used for and how if differs from aloe Vera gel you may buy at a drug store. They also attached an ebook with simple recipes I can use with my new aloe gel. I loved that they gave me ideas on how to use their product!As for the Aloe Vera gel: I've used natural aloe gel from the plant for years, which has a very gooey consistency and can leave my skin feeling sticky. The natural plant can be great for sunburns or a face mask, but after a few minutes I want to wash it off. Amara Organics has a very loose, almost watery consistency, which works perfectly for daily use. It didn't leave my face sticky, nor did I feel the need to wash it off.How it affected my skin: I applied the gel after I washed my face and before I applied my moisturizer. If my face feels a little dry that day I will either use less aloe or skip using it that day. During the winter months, when my acne is at its worst, I have to use this aloe gel sparingly, but I still feel that it helped my skin overall. My pores seem smaller, the texture is healthier, my acne marks don't seem to last as long.As the weather in NY becomes more humid, I love this product more and more. Usually, by midday I would have to wipe the grease off my face, but while using AO aloe gel, my face oils feel more balanced. I can use more gel and less moisturizer. I can't wait to use it after a day at the beach!Overall, I recommend this product. Not only is the product great and 100% natural, the company did a great job explaining all the different ways it can be used. I can't wait to try this on a sunburn!
