Poor Quality - Not Genuine Oke
Don't be fooled by the price as I was. First off this Sushi Oke is made in China!I have no problem with items made in China, practically everything is, however, I was lookingfor a genuine Oke from Japan.I ordered this item because it had copper bands, which by the way, are used to hold theOke together because you they don't use glue on a genuine Oke. I even took the time toemail Amazon and have them verify that is was copper bands and not the cheap plastic bands usedin the twenty dollar Okes. The picture shows the the thick bands as used in a genuine Oke.What you actaullay get are loosely fitting, non-functional, super thin copper band. These are nailed on one side.I can fit both blades of a scissor on the other side (see pics). I can only conclude that because they are non-functionalthe sides are glued. With what? Who knows, but I don't want my food touching it.If you are looking for a genuine Oke to make Sushi, this isn't it. I am definitely returning this itemand spending twice the price for a real one.

Not top notch quality
I haven't used it yet and didn't see anywhere on the item stating the material it was made from. I specifically ordered this bowl because it descripbed as being made of spruce and not of pine, I hope that's the case. I was hoping it would be a genuine Japanese made bowl, but I'm not sure of that either.I would recommend shopping around and reading more about the product if you're looking for a more specific bowl.Gno

Good starter Hangiri
Pretty nice Hangiri for making Sushi rice. The copper rings are more for accent than for holding the bowl together. It was attached pretty loosely to the sides. I felt it was a little overpriced, but when looking at the prices for professional hangiri bowls, found this to be a deal. Have used it three times and am happy with its results.

Works as expceted, copper bands could be attached better
Received this as a gift, it works great for cooling and keeping your sushi rice while you are making sushi at home. The only problem that i had is that the copper bands did separate from the wood bowl, however this doesn't seem to affect the bowl at all (I think they are merely decorative). All in all, a whole lot better for making sushi than trying to use pretty much any other bowl in the kitchen, the wood is non-reactive and won't give your rice a weird metallic taste.
