180 Days: Spelling & Word Study for Fifth Grade

This is the second book I received today in my Amazon shipment from "180 days of" this one being: Spelling and Word study for 5th grad. I'm super excited to teach my daughter with this book this year of homeschooling. She does struggle with spelling and I feel that this book is set up in a way to help children succeed spelling correctly and using the words in meaningful sentences. The overall value and price is spot on and budget friendly for my homeschooling curriculum, and the content inside, although not in color, is very well put together. I like these books and plan to buy more from the company!

The variety of activities included is impressive, covering everything from analogies and sentence completions to parts of speech, prefixes, suffixes, synonyms, antonyms, and even Greek and Latin roots. This comprehensive approach ensures that my kid gets a well-rounded practice in various language arts skills. One of the standout features of these worksheets is their repetitive structure. This design choice allows him to focus on the words and concepts being presented rather than getting distracted by complex activities. It fosters a sense of familiarity and confidence, which leads to more independent and self-driven practice. These worksheets manage to strike the perfect balance between being fun and engaging while serving a clear purpose in enhancing language skills. The enjoyable activities keep my boy hooked and motivated, making the learning process much more enjoyable.

I love that it organizes the spelling words by phonics skills.

Great at home practice for your kids

This is a great book for vocabulary building. I think it works well for spelling also, but I think it is better for vocabulary.

My fifth grader is a natural reader and speller. That said, I wanted him to spend some time practicing vocabulary and spelling rules as his other curricula become more challenging. This is an easy, quick, daily practice that has worked great for us. It’s quick enough he doesn’t mind it and he’s picking up some word origins that he hasn’t learned much of before this. We will definitely continue using these 180 days studies!

My students enjoy using this series as it’s clear for what is needed to be accomplished day to day. No guessing if there is more or less to be done.

Easy to follow work book

Great material for homeschooling, will definitely use this again next school year!

This is well planned and an easy no prep activity to give to students. The vocabulary is expansive - providing students with words they likely have heard of but do not know their full meaning. Therefore- we study the word lists together and find definitions online as a class. It has helped with their understanding of verbs, adverbs, adjectives, suffixes and prefixes etc. There are only American spellings- for example favourite is spelled “favorite” however I use it as a learning experience. There are 5 days of learning activities. It is a lot to cover in one week, and I have started using it over a period of 10 days. This resource is from 2010- so a bit old but it does cover the basics of spelling using spelling patterns. I only gave it a four out of five stars and I wish there was some teacher prompts and Canadian Spelling.
