Are the flag numbers supposed to match thr country number cards? None of ours match

How do you play? Will this teach geography or does the child need to already know to play? Is this like top trumps? Or the world geography board game?

It is kind of like combination of flash cards and board game (though there is no board per se). It helps kids learn about flags of different countries and certain number of other facts about each of them. All of which are very useful to get them excited about geography
