I adore all Carole's books and coincidently The Chocoholics are right up there with my most favourite ones. The Chocolate Lovers
I know it is not even the end of September, and we are already inundated with all those gorgeous Christmas books. To read most of the one's I have my eyes on I decided to start my Christmas book reviews earlier. When I found out, Carole Matthews is bringing the Chocolate Lovers Club back for this Christmas I was very excited. I adore all Carole's books and coincidently The Chocoholics are right up there with my most favourite ones. The Chocolate Lovers' Christmas picks up soon after The Chocolate Lovers Diet finished but this time, Christmas is just around the corner for our four wonderful heroines. Lucy, who loves running the Chocolate Heaven, but she hardly has a time for her boyfriend Aiden "Crush" as they fondly call him. And Lucy's sum bag ex-boyfriend Marcus keeps cropping up when he is not wanted?Nadia is feeling hurt and confused, but she has an excellent friend Jacob to give her a helping hand when it's needed.Chantal has a gorgeous baby Lana but her husband also fathered another child with his mistress and Chantal is not sure if having a child will be enough to repair her very broken marriage.Autumn is heartbroken after a tragedy but when she does not get the support from her fiance Addison the couple's relationship does not stand a chance of surviving.I enjoyed reading this book as much as the other two in the Chocolate Lovers series. Lucy, Chantal, Nadia and Autumn have their hands full, mostly with relationship troubles. My most favourite character was Chantal; I adored her strong personality and her will to turn her marriage around. She is a born organiser and tells her besties what she thinks straight up with no nonsense.Lucy Lombard finally got he dream job, as a manager of The Chocolate Heaven. It was lovely to see Lucy thrive on the challenge, but I think this time around I found her slightly bit frustrating. I could not understand why she would let her ex-boyfriend into her life again after what he has done to her previously. However, Lucy is a wonderful best friends material. I enjoyed watching her supporting her girls whenever she had the chance. There were quite a few hilarious/ embarrassing scenes throughout the book, and it made me giggle and cringe at the same time. Word of advice; check the name- a few times- before you hit the send button on your phone!Nadia and Autumn had a lot in common in this book. They both been through a lot lately and are relying on each other for support. I could not image how hard it must have been to lose a close member of their family. I cheered Nadia on as she was trying to make her and her son's life better. She was lucky to have such a wonderful bunch of friends to help her cope with those circumstances. Autumn is hurting, for a couple of reasons, but she founds it immensely soothing to look after Nadia's little son Lewis and because of that Autumn also realises what she lost a long time ago. I like that there was an aspect of surprise in Autumn story, and I also teared up reading about her rather sad childhood and teenage years. And as I am on the topic of characters I must also mention Jacob and Aiden. They were such a wonderful, supporting and all around kind-hearted men. I adored the way they treated their women, and I could not help but spurred them on. Aiden was a saint to put up with Lucy's crazy ideas, and Jacob needed to have that little push to find what he so desperately wanted.Carole succeeded in making this book such an enjoyable and sparkly read. The main storylines were gliding seamlessly alongside each other, captivating my attention from the start to the finish. There were plenty of delicious chocolate treats to help me get into the festive mood - already! I wish there were a Chocolate Heaven around here because I'd sure be there in a jiffy requesting my caramel latte and a few of those delectable chocolate truffles.Hmm...sounds heavenly!
