Knock Box for Coffee Grounds - Innovative Barista Accessory with Improved Handling - Coffee Knock Box for Espresso Machine, Black

I recently bought a grinder and an espresso machine, just in time to practice during quarantine. After going back and forth between the espresso station and the trash can a dozen times or so, I figured there would be a better way. I did some research on knock boxes, after an hour or so, I had seen a ton of boxes with the rod in the middle, and just one without with good reviews, the Homeffect. Shipping and delivery was fine, and the knock box came in great condition. Simple instructions, and the ledge to knock your portafilter on is sturdy and gets the puck out no problem. The instructions say you can do it one handed, but in the beginning to use two hands. If you don't knock it at the right angle, the box may shift a little, but after some practice, it is easy to do with one hand and not move the box. I think it's great, but again, I never owned one with a rod in the middle. The box itself holds plenty of pucks for my use. I pull 3-4 doubles a day, and it holds about 4 days of pucks. Cleaning it is super easy, dump the pucks in to wherever you were going to recycle it and then wash it out. Jan, the owner reached out with an additional e-book with ideas to recycle the grounds and making sure the order is good to go. I appreciate the customer service and I feel if I had any problems, I could reach out to the Homeffect team and they would help me. I highly recommend this knock box if you are using it in a home setting and not doing 20+ pucks a day. It has been great for me so far.

Update: I tried to see if I could get it to work without the basket falling out of the portafilter. I realized we were hitting it too hard! A few gentle taps and the puck/grounds come out without the basket coming off. I now believe this is a great design. Easy to empty and clean. Highly recommended and updated to 5 stars. Original review: We have a small espresso machine, a Breville Bambino Plus, and emptying the portafilter has always been a difficult, messy task. Saw a basket like this at our friend's house, except it was the "traditional" design with a round part across the middle of the bucket. When researching on Amazon, this one seemed like a different design and had high ratings so thought we'd try it. The bucket is a hard plastic but has a rubber layer on the lip that you knock the portafilter against. Overall, it works well but it is a challenge keeping the basket from falling out of the portafilter. We've developed a process of hitting it, pushing the basket fully in, and trying again. It usually takes 3 or 4 taps to empty the grounds. If you hit it too hard, the basket will wall into the bucket. Based on our experience, it seems the style of bucket that has the round knocking part across the middle of the bucket would work better, as it would prevent the basket from falling out. Is it enough for us to get rid of this one and replace it? No, it works with the process we have come up with and is so much better then trying to empty it in a trash can or other methods we've tried. If were doing it all over again, I would be the other style over this one. Your experience may vary depending on what type of portafilter/basket system you have.

Feels plenty sturdy and was inexpensive. I delayed buying one of these for a long time thinking they weren’t necessary. I’m very glad I bought it. Trying to knock the puck directly into the garbage was kind of gross and didn’t always work. This works much better.

Just got this little guy today, and of course I had to make myself an espresso to try it out. What can I say? It works! Nothing falls out of the filter when you tap it against the pad. The pad seems sturdy enough to take a decent amount of abuse - I don't plan on abusing it, but its whole purpose is to have something knocked against it every morning by someone who hasn't had their coffee yet! I was surprised at how many grounds this is going to be able to hold. I was worried it was going to be too small, but it's a good size and it won't take up too much space on the counter. Looks simple to clean - we compost our grounds, so we just have dump them into the compost bin. Mine looks a little different than the picture above because it doesn't seem to have the three orange round things on the side. But I can't see what they are from here so they may just be part of the ad or something. But overall--this was a great buy at an affordable price. Thank you!

Very happy with this knock box for espresso portafilters. Very easy to use, great design that limits mess. Easy to empty out and wash clean after using. Fits about four pucks before needing to be emptied. The knock area is solid and very effective.

Perfect accessory for the coffee top. Nice rugged design, doesn’t take a lot of space (can get near 5-6 pucks of grounds before being emptied ). The rubber accents dull a lot of the banging about between shots. Very pleased

Love it! I love the fact that I knock the portafilter on the side of the box versus over a bar in the middle. I like the simple look of it and that it is black. I didn’t want every accessory that I purchased to go with my Ninja Luxe Pro to be Ninja branded, and I did not want a stainless colored one.

Just what I was looking for. I don't like the knock boxes with a bar across the middle. I prefer this one that's essentially a mini trash to dump my espresso grounds.

Did a lot of research & read a lot of reviews before buying this. Didn’t tell my husband how much it was, but it’s worth every penny! Sturdy & coffee puck easily emptied without feeling like you’re hammering a nail in. Couple of taps & done. Friend recently bought one after seeing mine in action. Never knew a knock box could make my life complete!

Vor der Bestellung war ich tatsächlich skeptisch. In einigen Produktvideos klang das Ausklopfen des Siebträgers so laut, dass ich schon befürchtet hatte, morgens das ganze Haus aus dem Schlaf zu scheppern. Entwarnung nach den ersten Tagen im Einsatz: In den Videos war das Mikrofon offenbar direkt neben der Kante platziert. In der echten Küche dämpft das Teil den Schlag erstaunlich gut ab. Egal ob auf Holz oder der normalen Arbeitsplatte, das Geräusch ist vollkommen im Rahmen. Man kann sich auch früh morgens seinen Espresso ziehen, ohne schlechtes Gewissen gegenüber den Mitbewohnern. Wer wegen der Lautstärke zögert, kann unbesorgt sein. Optisch steht der Behälter unauffällig und schlicht auf der Zeile, was mir gut gefällt. Die Abklopfkante trifft man mit dem Siebträger ohne langes Zielen und der Kaffeesatz löst sich sauber. Das Fassungsvermögen reicht locker für einige Pucks. Weil die Öffnung groß genug ist, zieht auch gut Luft durch. Der Kaffeesatz trocknet einfach an, statt vor sich hin zu schimmeln, und wandert dann gesammelt in den Biomüll. Für mich ein durchdachter Küchenhelfer, der genau das tut, was er soll. Macht jeden Tag Freude.
