Rekindling Desire: A Step-by-Step Program to Help Low-Sex and No-Sex Marriages Paperback – January 13, 2003

This book is written by a marriage and Sexual counselor and his wife who is also in counseling. This book sheds light on what many of already know-real sex is not what we see in movies and television. The book is down to earth but reads like a text book at times. I have not read all of it but I am impressed with what I have read so far.

This is helping my husband and I get through our "desire" issues. It's certainly helping us. Simple to understand, and simple "homework" to do together. We don't agree with ALL the things written in it, but we glean from it what works for us.

Rekindling Desire is informative and educational and is well-written by Barry McCarthy. I would recommend this to family and friends. It arrived in a timely manner.

No desire came about after reading this book!

The McCarthy's book is helpful to get the conversation started about low-sex marriage. However, it requires two willing or somewhat willing partners. Throughout the book he recommends getting a sexual therapist involved which is helpful if you live in a mdetropolitan area with that sort of resource. Their exercises are somewhat helpful but are not a menu of step by step. It is more of a conceptual exercise on how to assess where you are at and what the next steps might be to make things better between you both.Recommended

Repetitive and boring. The authors really needed only a chapter or two to get their point across.

Not a whole lot to learn in this book if you've been in a relationship before . I didn't find it much help it went over things that I have already done in our relationship . It's more like a beginners guide.

a great tool for all marriages

I bought this book to help me with my professional practice in family & couple therapy. The book is well written and offers some useful suggestions and ideas. In addition, it positively challenged me to think about some aspects of my personal relationship, which perhaps I had not considered fully. It is an invitation to have an open dialogue about sex and intimacy with or without the help of a therapist. However it is not a substitute for therapy if you are experiencing more complex problems with your partner/spouse.

This book is a great read for people in a long term relationship who needs to find a way to reconnect. Definitely recommend.
