Q: can i buy more than 4 units and run all 8 mics??

You can use 4 systems and 8 mics at the same time. Each system has 200 selectable frequencies, as long as the 8 mics are operating at difference frequencies, you are all good to go. As of how to change the frequencies of the mics, please check the user manual or the instruction image on the product page at Amazon.
