Does what it says 😤
The Next Gen is awesome! Install truly is a breeze. Just take your time, nothing fancy. This air box completely and totally changed the sound of my hemi. It gave it a gutter roll growl from the front end. And the torque and horsepower gain is very noticeable.

Quick, Easy Install with a Small Mileage Boost Also!
K&N 30-1578 Performance Air Intake System, Dry Flow. I installed my system on a NEW model 1500 RAM Limited with the E-Torque Hemi. Purchased a Dry Flow intake so I would NOT have to clean and oil the filter. It also has the plastic or Roto-molded intake tube. I essentially followed the advice given by AKT in his review. Go slowly and FOLLOW the directions. Uninstalling the stock air box was the hardest part as I was really trying to not break any plastic parts. Everything else was easy and done quickly. The first of two tips I can give is to remember, or take a picture with your phone, of the air sensor position. It is reinstalled using a rubber grommet and can be easily turned to the correct position in the intake tube. The second is to go slowly when installing the K&N air box. Be sure to line up the intake opening in the air box with the grill intake as these two mate with a foam seal that seals everything off from the engine compartment. My wife was surprised when I came in from the garage as she thought I would be hours installing the K&N system. More good news is that after a week or two my mileage is inching up. I was getting an average of about 14.5 around town with the stock system. I am now getting 15.7. This is looking at the mileage compiled by the RAM, no scientific measurements. I have noticed better acceleration, a little better mileage but I really wanted this system for the torque gain when I tow a trailer. It does sound louder but not very much compared to my old GMC with K&N intake with an oiled filter when accelerating hard. It is quieter when cruising (about like the stock system) and my wife likes that. I will update this portion of my review when I take the trailer out in the spring. I’ve been using K&N products a long time and have never been disappointed. Friday, 3 May, 2024 It has been a few months now and I need to update my review. I cannot talk to increased torque, but my RAM truck is telling me my mileage has increased. The driver information center is saying I am getting a solid 15.9 mpg around town, up from a 14.4 mpg with factory intake. The really funny thing is at 70 MPH my indicated mpg goes up to over 20! At 60MPH I am getting an indicated 18+. These are the averages given out by the Ram info system. I did NOT manually calculate the mpgs given.

All Smiles.
Just bought and installed this Cold Air Intake (aluminum tube) on my 22 RAM 1500 5.7L. The install only took about a half hour. I'm certain it could have been quicker, but I took my time and followed a video on YouTube. I preferred that over following the directions provided. To me, they weren't detailed enough. The video set me up for success and was easier to follow when I needed a reminder of the next step. Once install was done, I started the truck and it purred. I had taken it for a drive the night before and yeet around listening to the sound and getting a feel for the vibes and handling. I noticed a difference immediately. The truck definitely has more power. As I took the first turn on to the interstate, I was a little ambitious with the accelerator and actually got a little spin at speed that made the truck work a bit. The Mikey Thompson's were gripping the road and it felt great. The sound was so good. I could feel the grin on my face and headed straight for the interstate, and open roads. I tooled around for a while and was consistently surprised by the difference. The truck was good as it was, but now it's great. I'm excited to tow. The trucks name is Sass, she's living up to the name now more than ever. I couldn't be happier. I was looking at different option, and now I don't feel like throttle controls and what not are necessary. I'm happy and even more excited to drive my truck!

It is what it is.
I purchased this for my 2020 Ram. Very easy installation. My gas mileage has not dropped or increased, nor is there a noticeable difference in hp gains, no real improved acceleration either. I bought it to see if when towing the travel trailer it helps the 5.7 hemi breath better but have yet to tow it since installing. I will update review once I have done so. I have had this same c.a.i. on my last three Rams. I loved how the unit on my previous Rams sounded under acceleration. Throaty all time. but this current Ram has an 8 speed transmission (previous trucks all had 5 speed transmissions) It seems like with the earlier shifting/lower revs on this truck you never really get the throaty sound unless you are getting on the highway and flat footing it till you get into the passing lane. Separately, when below freezing, the tone of the sound causes a strange vibration/droning sound in the cab. Sounds like it is coming from the cai itself. Anyways, meh.

Must buy , it will wake up your truck!!!
Immediate performance increases. Huge improvement in performance and efficiency. It has that old school four barrel sound when you put your foot in it!!!! The only drawback is that you can’t use a throttle spacer, the tube will hit the hood and it throws the whole thing out of wack. 4mpg fuel increases.

It's worth it
This intake system is for the new RAM body style, not the "Classic." The instructions provided by K&N are pretty good, FOLLOW THEM IN ORDER. Estimated time to complete: less than one beer. What you need: For the hose clamps- 5/16 nut driver(recommended) or minimum size of 1/4" flathead screwdriver For the vehicle's negative battery terminal- 10mm combo wrench or adjustable wrench or 10mm socket w/ratchet For the K&N PCV fitting- 19mm combo wrench(not required if you can open a jar of pickles) For trimming the form fitting gasket- Shears or diagonal cutters or sharp utility knife For the Filter/collar coupler- 5/32” hex wrench Four things to be gentle with during the removal and install: the air flow sensor connector, the PCV disconnect, K&N PCV fitting, and the air box removal. After following the K&N instructions that get you to the point of loosening the hose clamp on the throttle body, RESIST the urge to leverage or twist the air box out, you will break the (4)molded plastic post it sets on. The one deviation I will recommend is to ONLY HAND TIGHTEN the K&N PCV hose fitting. I threaded mine all the down by hand. You'll likely end up horse cranking on this thing if you use a wrench and will break it off like others have done. It has a deeper, guttoral sound once you creep up on 3k RPMs throughout the remaining RPMs of the motor. If you drive it like normal, you will see an increase in your fuel economy. Without a dyno of before and after, I can only take K&N's word for the ~15HP increase in a near 3-ton vehicle. The torque increase @ ~35 lb ft is very good for a truck to use for hauling though. I'd recommend the upgrade on your truck. I feel it is worth it and over the life of the vehicle you'll get more bang for the buck versus stock air filter replacements. KEEP YOUR OEM AIR BOX. WHEN YOU SELL YOUR TRUCK, PRIVATE BUYERS/STEALERSHIPS WANT THAT.
