Great little pump!
The media could not be loaded. Update July 22, 2017: Pump is in its 2nd season now, still going strong. Has even run dry a couple times and survived, and also survived a raccoon pulling on its cord. We bought a second one for backup in case this one dies - but so far so good!July 12, 2016: Bought this pump to use in a homemade birdbath/fountain. We wanted the pump to be separate from the basin, for three reasons: (1) to help keep the pump clean; (2) to avoid worrying about the water level; and (3) to ensure it wouldn't bother the birds. This pump works perfectly for those needs. By attaching clear vinyl (5/16" inside diameter) tubing onto the pump's discharge outlet (and attaching the "fountain" parts to the other end of that), we were able to separate the pump from the bath basin.I highly recommend this pump! Things I love about it:1. There is a 10-foot cord from the pump to the solar panel, so we can have the birdbath in the shade but the panel in the sun.2. The solar panel is good-sized (about 5"x5.5").It has two short legs so you can angle it toward the sky without laying it down flat. We have ours clipped to the side of a plant stand. It faces east in the morning and we turn it to the west in the afternoon, and it runs all day. (Granted, we're in sunny CA.)3. The pump is surprisingly powerful. The tubing we added travels up about 20", but it still puts out a good fountain effect. (Note: to get the fountainhead pieces inside the 5/16" tube, I had to dip the tubing in boiling water to soften it, then force "Part A" in. It wasn't easy. I used the cap-end of a skinny marker for extra leverage.)Our birds were intrigued but seemed intimated by the fountain. What finally worked best was taking the fountainhead off (we left Part A inside the tubing end) and just hiding the tube in a pile of small stones. So it looks and works more like a bubbler. They love it! Goldfinches, sparrows, mockingbirds and even hummingbirds have been visiting it.It's 7pm now and I'm on the patio writing this, about 20 feet from the birdbath. The pump has stopped running because the sun is too low, but two mockingbirds just landed on the bath to get a drink. What a great way to end a summer day!

Worked well for 6 months then stopped working, still like it though
The media could not be loaded. I liked this unit a lot and put it in my bird bath. It worked well on sunny days and even on overcast days it would put out a bubble here and there. After 6 months though it had enough and quit after I sprayed it down. I assume that's what happens with these cheap solar powered pumps.I never used the attachments because it takes more power (sun) to get those going. Again I enjoyed that it still worked on a cloudy day. With the attachments that wasn't the case. Also, I wish the manufacturer would give out more of those small filter bags with this purchase because you can't find that small size for replacements. It is imperative that you use those filter bags with your pump, it can get a lot of algae on it. I think that's why mine stopped working because I sprayed it with a hose with the mesh bag still instead of removing the bag and cleaning it separately. I assume I got some gunk in the intake.I am purchasing this again because it's cheap and I think the others in that price range are just the same. My birds were really attracted to it and I never saw any mosquito larvae in my bird bath. The top requirements for me!

Runs excellent in sunlight, no pumping in darkness
This solar power pump works really well! This is best used in a water feature and probably not to power an actual small pond that has fish, and I'll tell you why.First of all this is a solar power pump...meaning it will only run as long as it is getting direct sunlight. After the sun goes down the pump stops, on gloomy days it may not be enough to power the pump. So if you have fish this may not be in your best interest. I know fish can come to the surface to get air and in our Huge pond we have been without power for an extended period of time, but ideally this is not the environment you want for fish. The solar panel is quite large and does take a charge fairly quickly. I charged mine a few hours in the sun and used it later that afternoon. The pump is small, and only 1 speed, not adjustable. With just the pump itself running on the solar power it functions mainly as a bubbler and bubbles about 1 inch or so above the outlet. When you add the attachments for the fountain pieces then the pump powers the water much higher. This pump would be great for a table top feature or a flowerpot size fountain, or birdbath.Very long cord connection that unscrews if needed. Easy to bury the cord as well.I have this powering a cascading flower pot fountain with no issues. This was meant to use an electric pump that came with it and I removed that pump and used this pump instead due to a/c power plug restraints.I received this item complimentary for testing purposes. My opinions are my own and I was not compensated in any way for my thoughts.

Only runs in direct sunlight
Bought to replace another solar pump for an outside fountain. This works OK -- as soon as the panel is in the shade, the fountain no longer works. It does not seem to have a "reserve" charge where my previous pump might have run an entire day if it were cloudy before the charge expired. This needs to be constantly in the sun. So, for me, this is an OK pump.
