Perfect sambal for malaysian dishes!
This sambal is slightly sweet, very difficult to find such sambal in the UK (as other brands, tends to be a bit sour). This kind of sambal makes the best fried rice / fried noodles / nasi lemak in my opinion.

Not worth the price!
Definitely not worth nearly seven pounds for size of jar. I gave it to my husband thinking it was a paste that could be used several times; I was shocked when he said he followed the recipie for two to use all with the cost of additional ingredients. It would have been cheaper to get a takeaway! The taste was okay, but I wouldn't get it again given that it was advertised as gourmet!

tasty!
very tasty - i got the basic one. i don’t use a lot of sauces or things like this cos we don’t cook much but decided to give this a go after seeing it on Dragons Den. very positive surprise, works with a lot of foods. came with a few recipies, didn’t try them though. we’ve ordered this twice now actually. not too spicy.

Soooo tasty!
So I usually buy a different brand of Sambal for nasi lemak but times got desperate and my usual Chinese supermarket is miles away so I thought I’d try this brand. Oh my gosh it is SO tasty, even better than the brand I was using before. Slightly milder chilli but really well balanced. I will be buying more from MakTok definitely going forward. Yes there was some oil on the bubble wrap when it arrived but the jar was unbroken and the seals were intact so it doesn’t matter. What matters is the taste!! And look at how happy he is on the label!

Tastes very similar to home ☺️. Arrived safely it did not leak. Good value with the quality taste of the product. Would definitely be buying again! Not too spicy, 4.5/10 spice, definitely enjoyable. People who can handle spice well would definitely need a higher level of spice.

Open jar when received!
Although packaged up tightly, The lid of the jar was open and the sauce had leaked. As this is I food item, I am uneasy with this and had to throw it away.

Nice taste
I like the taste, it's spicy but manageable. I used it with teriyaki tofu and it worked perfectly, highly recommend
